Straightening Iron

hi, im currently in grade 12 and my grad pictures are coming up and obviously id like my hair to look its best. The problem i have is that my bangs can be a hassel, they both have a bit of a wierd wave to em that can cause em to point outwards. On a good hair day they wont do this but on most they will, its very annoying and i know my mom has a straightening iron, can anyone instruct me on how to use it... i dont want to damage my hair trying it myself.

I use a straightening iron myself.
If it has the comb attachment, use it!
Turn it on, allow it to heat. Comb out a section of hair about 1/2 the length of the heated surface and hold it straight. Clamp the iron down as close to the scalp as you comfortably can. SLOWLY pull straight. If it's not straight enough, make another pass or two. Then move to the next section of hair.
If you have a leave-inb conditioner, I'd recommend putting some of that on before using the iron. Not a lot, just a little.
Good luck! With a little practice, you'll become a pro in no time.

i use a flat iron as well....love it...i section off my hair, don't try to flatten your hair all at once...i tie up the front and sides, leave the back 3 inches or so, and straighten it....then let down the next 3 inches or so, straighten it, and so on until i get to the front section, and then my hair is straight.
yes, DO use a leave-in conditioner...i use some of the frizz-ease products as well, to lessen the amount of fly away hairs i get.
don't leave the flat iron on your hair for a long period, because if you have a high wattage iron, it will get HOT, and you don't' wanna damage your hair...but i've used one for over a year, and it works great.
but once it is straight, it is that way until i wash it again...unless i come across high humidity...and then i'm back to frizz again :-(

I would not use it. It sounds too scary. Anyway my hair is straight. But maybe it will start to curl after a certain lenght. Who knows?
