hair-related OCD issues

Does anyone here have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and any symptoms relating to your hair? When I was in the 7th grade I used to pull strands of my hair out one by one (called something like "trichtillomania" [sp]). When I developed a bald spot at age 12 and got made fun by classmates for it (they didn't know why I had the bald spot, btw), I was able to get it under control. I've had some problems with it since but nothing major. I think I've got it completely controlled now. Another thing that I do all the time though is pick at my head, like at my scalp. I am pretty careful, but I worry about doing damage to my hair. Sometimes I get carried away. This is something I've done for a long time, and never really noticed any damage from it, but I still worry (very paranoid). Does anyone else have any problems like this?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: There are good drugs out there
to correct any chemical imbalance.
One woman I know had this problem, and once she started on the
drug, her behavior changed overnight.
Good Luck

I used to have the type of ocd where you wash your hands like 50 times a day, but there were also other problems, some relating to hair. All the times I've grown my hair out in the past I would find one area of unevenness or damage or a split end or whatever, and I'd immediately get a drastic haircut and start over. There are things you can do to overcome this though such as therapy or drugs that balance your brain chemistry. I've gotten best results from prozac.

This is one of the problems I've had. In April, I cut my shoulder length hair... shaved it ALL off. But I really did need to, because I took terrible care of my hair. This time around, I've been taking good care of my hair and it looks and feels much nicer. Yet, I still get paranoid and want to shave it and start over again. I don't because I'll never get anywhere if I do that. It's been 5 months since I did that and I'm finally getting somewhere and don't want to start over again. Anyway, thanks a lot for your responses guys.
