Dry hair

Lately my hair has been extremely dry and brittle. I wash it every 2 or 3 days with Aussie shampoo and I use Aussie conditioner as well. Then I apply a leave in conditioner and let it dry naturally. I don't understand why it is so dry even after all that conditioning. I have tried a few diffirent conditioners with similar results, and I have tried hot oil treatment which helps for about day then it's just like it was. What can I do to make it not so dry and brittle?

I've tried a few conditioners myself and had similar results. In my particular case, my hair looks and feels healthier without the use of conditioner...and I do not have oily hair. When I do use conditioner, my hair when it is dry, is stiffer and more lifeless. I have not suffered any dryness or split ends with this method. I have seen a post from another who does not use conditioner either. You may want to just try it for a week and see what happens.

I have the same problem sometimes and you are correct...conditoners
will not be of much help.
And while many do NOT like gels, try a light melting gel and
blend it through your damp hair...Style it and then...
LEAVE IT ALONE.
Your hair may SEEM dry, but the real problem is that your individual
hairs are 'resisting' each other...separating...
Gel will make them a bit 'friendlier' to each other.
Give it a try...nothing to lose...
Try physique

Have you tried the Physique line? Normally I wouldn't plug a product. However, I tried this stuff in desperation, and it is defintely worth the xtra bucks. I have the Dry hair problem, but mine is also coarse and frizzy and thick. This stuff works far better than anything I have used, it leaves the hair extremely soft, and the conditioner doesn't make it the least bit dirtier or oilier.
I am left with very soft, moist, smooth hair, and its lighter than it is with other products. While it doesn't cure frizz/coarseness, instead of looking like a frizz head, it just looks like I have "normal" wavy hair, that lays down quite well. Looks quite a bit longer. Nice. It holds up (the benefit stays) at least 2 days, which is more than I can say about the other stuff I've tried, and it doesn't attract extra "dirtyness" like the slimy products (cough) Thermasilk (Cough).
Even If I don't rinse out the conditioner, it will only look slightly darker. It is also reactivated by water, so you don't need to wash everyday, although I ususally do.
Actually, the shampoo alone is better than any shampoo and conditioner I have used together. I have tried the clarifying, deep hydrating, and contouring/straight shape formulations, and all are good. You probably want deep hydrating.

try olive, coconut or some other type of oil. apply a very very small ammount to your comb, and then come through your hair til it's evenly applied. you may need to experiment to get it right.
My hair was always dry, brittle, and poofy, until I tried this a week or so ago. now my hair is wonderful, and the oil does not make it at all greasy if you do it right. Just remember you do not need much oil at all. My first mistake was to pour some oil into my palm and then massage it thtough my hair -- WAY too much. just very very lightly dip the end of a comb into the oil, and just comb until it's applied evenly. you may need to put a small bit more oil on the comb a time or two, depending on how dry your hair is, and how much you have.
