very slow

I've been growing my hair out from being shaved for about six months. I got the sides and back trimmed once just so there would be a difference between the sides and the back and the top. Now my hair seems to me to be growing very slow. Is this normal? Has anyone else ever felt like this? I hear that trims supposedly make hair grow faster. Should I get a trim now and then maybe another in six more months? Thanx in advance.
Yes it is, specially if you trim it

"I hear that trims supposedly make hair grow faster."
Who told you that? A barber or a stylist? Trims have nothing to help hair grow faster. Trims are for 3 things and 3 tings only:
Removing split ends, shortening your hair, and shaping your hair.
The root has no benefit from trims, and neither does the length or growth rate. Eat tons, of jello, take vitamins and be patient, but don't, don't, don't trim your hair to speed it up!
Jell-O is good!

A while back I posted about Jell-O and how I heard that it helps hair growth because of the keratin that it contains. Everyone dismissed it as an old wives' tale. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that heard about this. I thought I was goin' crazy. Plus, Jell-O = Yummy!
:)

NOTHING makes hair grow faster. Not vitamins, not jello, not various expensive supplements, not even cow manure!
Your hair will grow at the same rate regardless of what you try.
Just be patient!
If you're growing it out, don't get trims. They'll only slow you down. Remember, hair is dead (which is why cutting it doesn't hurt) and grows only from the root!
Agreed...

Rokker is right, dude. Keeping yourself healthy is a great thing to keep your hairs optimum growth, but it will not speed it up any more than its predestined speed. Like Rokker said, Patience! It is a virtue you know. Leave it alone and let nature have its way. Try not to drive yourself nuts with paying too much attention to it. Peace!!!!!
Strongly disagree

No, not if you already reached your natural max. if you are growing your genetical max. rate, that means you are having all the food and vitamins you need.
However in these days of Chips, fries, cheetos, McDonalds and Coke..
very few eat what they should be eating. They just eat whatever they can pick up at work or on their way to school. I'm not saying we're starving, I'm saying we need better diets, which I don't get, as many more don't.
So as I acknowledge my max is 3/4 in. per month, if I don't take vitamins and supplements I barely grow 1/2. That is why these things work for some of us, and they don't for you guys. Don't discourage people to try. Congratulations on a perfect diet! Some of us have found some benefit in all this. And Jell-O is avery rich source of protein.

I'm with Santiago, but since my thoughts were more speculative, I didn't have the balls to come out with them. Maybe I should try a better diet. At least until I get to my desired length. But not tonight. Tonight is chili pie and Pepsi night.
Disagree all ya want!

The fact of the matter is that it has been SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN that NOTHING can make your hair grow faster.
Period. Nuff said.
If you want to cling to the fantasy of vitamins, a different diet, whatever...feel free. Doesn't matter to me.
But on this board, where people come for real advice and a dose of REALITY, I think it should be said like it is.
There is no need for people here to WASTE money on junk that won't help.
That's why I posted this reply.
Not faster, just full

How 'bout this? There's nothing you can do that will make your hair grow faster, but a poor diet, and lack of nutrients can make your hair grow more slowly. Thus, a healthy diet and whatnot can make hair grow faster, but not faster than was possible all along.
Better? Can we still be friends?

I totally disagree with this statemement. I did an expiriment on hair growth. I measured the hair groth of 4 people with the same diet. Two people.. me included took Jello tablets and ate a lot of Jello.. and Our hair grew alot more and faster than the two people that didnt. I did this Expirement over one year. Six months without jello. 6 months with. And my hair grew 2 more inches than my sister.. who did not take the jello.. and we had the same rate of growth before. My boyfirend who had the jello needed a hair cut ever 2 weeks. my sisters boyfriend needed only 1 per 1 1/2 months.. And their hair growth rate was pretty much the same... Good Luck girls.. EAt lots of Jello.

What's Jell-o!? Basically, flavored gelatin I guess... I don't know what you call it where you are from. But it comes from cow's hooves or something like that and therefore I won't eat it.

Right you are, sir. Actually, the gelatin in Jell-O is made from collagen, and the gelatin we eat comes from the bones, hooves, and connective tissues of cows and pigs.
