Do you think we shall EVER see the United States being governed by a long haired president by the end of this century, even if it means having a female candidate elected?
That was more of a rhetorical question than anything. I know what answer I am to expect. Besides, long hair is (as we all know) a frivilous matter when something as critical as presidence is on the line... Still, I just thought it interesting to comment on that.
... And for all those who would try to argue that we may yet see a longhaired leader since anyone can become president in this country and all that, might I advise that you take a look at the oh-so worthy and diverse candidates we had running in the past election? Do you seriously mean to tell me that we had not one man or woman that was more competant that Bush and Gore (not a difficult quality when you really think about it, even if you were to combine their merit) and was willing to run?!?
My mistake

Don't remember seeing any barbers and salons in Mad Max...or any kind of reasonable hair care for that matter.
We've come a loooong way, baby...not!

Maybe...if things go in cycles...
afterall, GEORGE WASHINGTON--200 years ago-- wore a TAIL...
as did Thomas Jefferson...
and now we have to wait HOW LONG until it starts all over again??

iN Polictics there is an addage....never say never. Things change,
issues change, candidates are viewed differently. A candidate who
now can't get elected dog catcher could make a comback and
get elected years from.
You get the right candidate, with long hair, and he could be
elected president. In fact we may have one in 2004......Kerry
from Massachusetts. If you can look at some of the old
pictures from the Veitnam era after he seved in Viet Nam,
and then protested the war.
LucksKind beat me to correcting myself

I must've posted that message in too much haste, for now I find myself correcting my post yet again. It was just shortly after having left the computer that I realized that some of the States' founding presidents had long hair. I should've been more specific in speaking of the time span, like saying "since post-industrialism" instead of asking if we'd EVER see a long-haired president. I was more or less thinking exclusively within the confines of contemporary society when I posted that message, but my words gave no such indication. Please forgive my error.
