will "trimming" my hair make it grow any faster? i really dont care about how ilook during any form of awkward stage before being able to tie my hair back but its important that i know if trimming it will change the rate of growth?? cuz i dont want to be needlessly chopping off hair that could otherwise have helped it get longer. ??
confused as far as hair care gos :( dunno what a splitend is.. dunno what damaged hair is. christ all i know is hair is hair.

No trimming only makes your hair shorter (and neater sometimes).

I used to endorse trimming split ends until I learned, in recent weeks, that the idea that they allow your hair to grow faster is really just a myth. Basically, what I understand now is that trimming does two things:
1) Shorten your hair
2) Make your hair appear to grow faster, when all you're really doing is removing damaged hair before it can naturally fall out.
Given that, I've decided against trimming my hair anymore, until I reach a length I'm content with.

Nyghtfall,
I know you've been growing your hair for a long time... just curious, is it still getting longer? It just seems that 12 years is a long time to be growing and still be acheiving more length. Is it because you just recently stopped trimming your hair? How long are you going for?
Chris

it doesn't make it grow faster, but if you have really damaged ends then it might be necissary to trip the ends. this is because the damaged parts are falling off just as fast as your hair is growing, so it looks like it stopped, or slowed in growing. so don't trim it unless its really damaged.
