Hi guys and gals, I've enjoyed lurking and reading for a while. I have two large photo collages featuring my long hair. Each collage is about 950x400 pixels, about 200KB jpg file:

Both sets of pictures were taken in the last week, here in Los Angeles.
Any comments?

Thanks guys. By the way, I'm a famous rock star nobody has heard of yet. I'll let you know when I'm famous. :-)
Actually I am working on putting together a band, but am keeping the day job for now (software)...
When I wear standard business clothes and tie, leave out the earrings and pull my hair back, easily 3 out of 4 companies and agencies don't have a problem, although I feel boring. But it would sure be great to switch to a career where "looking unusual" would be a *plus* to add to my resume!

P.S. Sorry about the world's dumbest nickname, I didn't realize that I wasn't just putting "hi there" into the subject line. Well I guess I'm stuck with it now!

Actually, not a bad username at all...but...
if you want to change it, do it now before
it sticks!

I got some nice questions by email and decided to reply on the board. I would be interested to compare my experiences with other men who also have very long hair.
I'd wanted long hair since I realized men could have long hair, I guess around junior high age, and I wanted earrings since I realized in high school men could wear them. "Could" meaning there's no physiological difference between men and women in those regards, as long as there's not a baldness gene being expressed; it's common in most of history and many parts of the world; there's no good reason for the recent "traditional" view against it in this society.
Instead of "tradition", I prefer to think of the social rule about how men "should" look as a fad -- it that happens to be a very long running fad, but that will eventually fizzle out like all fads.
For me, I feel my appearance expresses who I really am and how I feel about life. It's not trying to look like anyone else or to catch a trend. Although I don't mind being associated with rock stardom since I'd love to be a professional musician.
My parents are quite conservative so I got my chance once out of college. During college I let my hair grow out each semester but had to get it cut back when I came back home for the vacations. After college I was finally on my own and let it grow out for a few years.
In a period out of work I let an obnoxious know-nothing agency recruiter talk me into getting it cut back, for a job I didn't get. I had really awful headaches for a long time from the sudden change of weight and I really hated losing a part of me! I decided not to cut it again unless it was my own preference. That was several years ago.
The bottom edge is a bit uneven, so once it's all grown down to around my belt line, I'll probably get it trimmed straight across to be even. After that, I'll probably let it grow on down to mid-thigh length, if it will grow that far... which I have every reason to think it will. Longer than that, and I think I'd have to deal with too many inconveniences to be worth the bother. I might also experiment with having it cut straight across around the small of the back. For now I see myself having long hair my whole life, just slightly changing exactly how long.
I also have some dangle type earrings and different colors of studs, and want to get some good pictures with those decorations in place. I realize many men have long hair or earrings without the other, for me I like the way I look best with them together as part of the whole package.
Oh I should thank Victor for creating this forum!

that's what you sound like to me...
From your Story, it seems you've always known or felt that
you were meant to have your locks long...
For some reason, I went along with the 'trend' and kept getting
my hair cut & trimmed over the years...
but now I wonder HOW I could ever stand not having it LONG!
Great Story! Thanx for sharing it with the Board
