Hairspray or Gel/Hair Mud?

Out of hairspray or gel/styling mud, which is better for your hair? I am sure neither of them are "good" for your hair, but if you had to chose from either or.. What should you chose?
I have used both for over 2 years, I used to spike my hair; I am just hoping it hasn't destroyed my hair too much. Cause if so, it most likely won't look good if I grow it out.. Atleast, that's what I assume.

You should be ok man, do some deep conditioning and maybe some hot oil treatments every once in a while. Remember to use conditioner after every shampooing. Don't blow dry. Rinse in lukewarm/cooler water.
Shampooing. What a funny word... :)

The only thing to say about Gel is that you can wet it and fix your hair if it gets messed up. Hairspray is a one-shot deal. Having said that I got some fancy hairspray for Christmas and it holds quite well without the "helmet head" you get with Gel. I'm a big believer in bandanas (AKA head scarf). I went out today and didn't want to mess around with my hair so I just put a bandana over it.

Only problem with bandanas and hats, is that I can't wear them in school. I found this stuff called "hair mud" and I seem to like it. It doesn't make my hair hard like gel or hairspray, so I can mess around with it and put my hands through it and it just makes it feel a little "greasy" I suppose. But it doesn't feel like "I haven't washed in a week" greasy. ;)
