Time for a trim, BUT....

I am very nervous about having it done. I think I really need to have it done because my ends are starting to look a little ragged, and I want to even things up a bit. But I am concerned that they will cut too much! Everytime I have ever had my hair trimmed they cut way more than I expected. If I go have it trimmed and they cut too much this time,I am going to be PISSED!!! Also everywhere I've ever been they are very rough with your hair. When they wash it they pile all the hair up on top of your head, and they pull it and stuff. And when they brush or comb it,they just rip through it and aren't careful at all. I don't know what to. Everywhere I've ever been has been this way. So,I don't know if I should just take a chance,or just leave it alone for awile longer.
Keep it in the family...

: I am very nervous about having it done.
Just get a relative with a steady hand to do it for you. It's not rocket science, and you'll save some cash.

Cutting your own hair probably isn't the best idea.. But I know where the fear in this situation is. What I would do (and have done) is to simply lay down the law. Don't be intimidated by the person cutting your hair (after all, YOU are paying THEM..). Simply tell them you want VERY LITTLE cut off the tips.. and you're VERY serious about it. Tell them to be gentle with it. After being so precise I highly doubt they would still be so non-chalant about it. This may be the reason they were so jerky with it before is because you didn't thoroughly tell them what they need to do (Although you shouldn't have too, I know). Your hair eventually needs to be cut (unless you're a hermit, heh). Hope I helped in some small way.

When you sit down in the chair don't let the haircutter just start doing what they always do, make them stop and talk with you about it first. Get them to understand and acknowledge what you want to do with you hair and your concerns with how hairdressers tend to ignore what you want.
Then again, if you have had this problem with this haircutter before then she'll probably do it again and it may be time to find a new one. You might be pleasantly suprised at how well someone else might treat your hair with a fresh perspective.
