I need your input...

I've been growing my hair since sometime in July. I've never had anything longer than my usual #4 clipper cut (#2 on the sides and back). For a long time I have wanted longer hair, but was always afraid to try it. I've finally decided to make it happen. I always knew I had curly hair but I never realized just how curly it would get until now. It's really thick and light-brown/dirty blonde. It seems to be more wavy on top but my bangs, sides, and back are extremely curly. It's finally about 4" now, when I pull it down to measure it. It doesn't look that long because it curls up so tight. My hair is very frizzy without some sort of gel, probably because of the excessive washing, but I have no choice as I work in a dirty industrial factory. I'm getting both negative and positive comments on my new look. Many people like my hair, while others just flat out tell me I need a hair cut. I can't count time times that I've been asked "I heard you got a perm... did you?" If people really paid attention they would notice that I never had it long enough to get curly in the first place. Alot of the girls that I know do give me positive comments on my hair though. I guess I'm rattling on here. I mainly just wanted to say, yes I have curly hair, I like it, and I want to continue growing it. I just wish it grew quicker! Does anyone here think that curly hair doesn't belong on men? I really don't want to have it straightened. Any suggestions for negative comments on my hair in the future? Thanks for taking the time to read my post...

I love curly hair on guys. One of my former roommates has super-curly, dark red hair down to the middle of his back, and it looks awesome.

Then don't. It's your hair, do what you want with it, and bugger all the rest.

Ignore them when possible, respond politely when not, and keep your confidence up.

Saying curly hair doesn't belong on men is like saying long hair doesn't belong on men. It grows that way NATURALLY, so how can it not "belong"? Curly hair can look really great long; it definitely gives long-haired men a unique quality. Don't give up! If you can perservere a while longer, and you can, you'll be very glad you did. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you like what you do: in this case, with your hair. When people give you negative comments, you can react in several ways. You can just ignore them and smile, or if you're the clever type you can think of a good comeback. Or give them the finger. It's up to you. And if at all possible, try to get a different job... that doesn't sound very good on your hair :/
