How long to grow it from a buzz?

Hello.. I agree with you guys long hair is best. I felt like a bit of a trim the other day and I don't know why I did that now. Went overboard and ended up giving myself a complete buzz cut. It didn't seem to be growing out very even, poofs out in this fuzz on the sides and every time it does that I keep clipping it back into the short buzz style I experimented with last summer. They don't tell you when get a buzz that it's tricky to get it back to the way you had it longer. It's like you have to retrain the direction your hair parts. My hair used to be thick and flow. Anyway I'm determined that I'm going to get it back like that again. In fact I want it longer than that. I want it down past my shoulders. I'm tired of the supper short buzz that seems to be so popular now. When I look in the mirror with a buzz cut it just doesn't feel like me. Feels like shrugging off part of my humanity or something. I can definitely understand what you guys are saying. I can't even sculpt it around or anything now it's so short. How long does it take to grow it out again? It's about a 1/2" now. What is the deal with guys all getting buzz cuts? Do you think most of them have it this way because it's tricky to let it grow back? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

I started with a buzz and have been growing for 4 months now. It's about 2 and a half inches long now and is past my eyebrows in the front and almost past my ears on the sides. Hopefully that gives you an idea of where you'll be in about 4 months from now. It's excruciately slow going from a buzz cut to long hair, but don't give in and have it cut. Before you know it your hair will be long again. About buzz cuts, they're so prevalent today because they're "in." The more the people that are doing it, the more are the people that follow. Simple as that. Good luck.

Unfortunately when I grew my hair out, it was from a buzz. Now you're not going to want to here this, but fact is, it took about 18 months for it to get to my shoulders. It's EXTREMELY tedious, especially if you're not dedicated. Just bear in mind, it's just going to take that long and theres no way around it. I see a lot of guys that are like, 'Yeah I've got like 4 months of growth!' But that's not even a drop in the bucket yet. So your answer is about 1 year to make it obvious that it's long. I know I didn't help much, but I needed to get that off my chest. Rar.

You're absolutely right. I've been growing out from a shaved head. It's been 16 months so far and now it's when it's starting to look how I want it to.

Okay, it's true. I went from completely shaved head to growing it out, and after one year it was at that "hard to manage" stage, where nothing short of gluing it down with gels -or hats. But after a year and a half, very managable, a hair tie would hold every strand, including the bangs. After three years it reaches down my entire back, and women comment on it always:)
