Washing out Hair clay/Mud

Some of you have seen the hair clay/mud put out by companies. Sebastian makes one, a couple of others. Its good stuff for those monthers like me that want a bit of hold and texture. I'm at the "I don't care how it looks stage" so it works for me. It is somewhat hard to get out. It can be gotten out with clarifying shampoos, but that would pretty much strip out everything, including natural oils. My only concern is if this will slow the growth rate, due to stripping out the oils.
Will it?
