Here is how geocities (doesn't) work. They have code that checks the referring URL. If the referring URL is also geocities, they will display the picture. If it is not geocities, the won't display it.
This means that if you set up your browser to not transmit referrer information, the pictures will display. Also, if you type in the URL directly, or paste it into the URL line, it will work. If you get it to work by hook or crook, and you have your cache enabled in your browser, then when you display the page again regularly, the picture will display, because your browser already has a copy.
