The journey begins

Hi all, Im new here. Im 23 and in the past Ive grown My hair out several times at least a foot long and then cut it off. This time Im determined to let it go as far as I can. the thing I regret is that a while back I shaved off a huge chunk at the back so it wouldnt be so thick, so itll take a while for that to grow back but its not noticeable. other than that its been over 3 years since I last cut it and it just seems to be going so slowly. Ive also started trying to take better care of it, getting rid of split ends and learning to comb it right. now what I dont understand is how the hell did I get knots in individual hairs?! I just dont see how that happens

I think its called an undercut. it appears long, but an area at the back is shaved underneath. its about an inch long now

You actually look younger with the long hair!
Perhaps the strands tangle from sleeping? I have wavy hair, and if I toss and turn at night it really tangles. Maybe more conditioning and sleeping with it in a ponytail will help. Satin pillowcases are also supposed to help with "night time tangling."

I think sleeping is what does it. oh and I also need to mention that I lost 40 pounds in between the 2 pics, thats probably also why I look younger.
