Growing Down and Out?
Posted by Toile on April 02, 2003 at 14:16:33: Previous Next
Hey I have a bit of a problem I've been growing my hair since about september from about 4 inches, now its down below my chin and at the back nearly reaches my shoulders. ( Below my collar on my shirts ). The problem I have is that at the back it is very bushy because I have very thick streight hair. Theres sort of like too much volume of hair at the back if you know what I mean.
Any idea what I should do, maybe see a salon or something?
Stop right there, mister...!

Don't touch that awesome description of hair you have there. Stay as far from a salon as possible. Let that stuff get longer over the next year and it will weigh itself down and make it lay closer and not as bushy. You will have long hair that even women would kill for. You are a very lucky few in the realm of long hair to have thick straight hair. A lot of people have thick curly/wavey hair which is harder to maintain and control even at longer lengths. Others have thinner hair that looks stringy. But what you have is the perfect combination for the most awesome long hair look possible. Leave it alone and let mother nature do her job over time and I guarantee you will be extremely satisfied within another year or less. Peace and Good Luck. (remember, DON'T TOUCH THAT STUFF WITH SCISSORS ANYWHERE, MAN!!!!!)

Too bushy? Put it in a ponytail for 6 months. You won't regret it!

Don't worry. Within 2-3 months, it will get better. For a while, I was in the same situation. Kinda grew my hair out from a layered style, so, the bangs were always shorter than the rest of the hair. Still looked ok, but, had to wear my tail rather high. Can you pull it back into a rather high tail and get everything in there? If so, maybe do that until it gets long enough to tie @ the nape...

Couldn't have said it better!

Tell me about it. Although it'll look better the longer it grows, wavy/curly hair can be pain in "that bodypart" to maintain. BTW, you forgot to mention the worst part; a hidious awkward phase! With straighter hair you might even skip the awkward phase.
