HELP

I get in a daily fight with my parents over my hair. They threaten to cut it off, I threaten to press charges. I've always had a pretty good relationship with my parents and I don't want to end it. I'm right smack dab in the middle of the "awkward stage" - my hair in the front rests right at about the bottom eyelash but can be pulled to the tip of my nose, and the sides can be pulled down below my ear. I convinced my parents to let me have it long, but of course they had to have SOME say in what it would look like so they told me what they wanted. They want me to part it on the side. This presents a huge problem. It makes me look like someone stuck in the '70's and everyone I know hates it that way. But my parents think it looks "better" like that and hate the "shaggy look" - with it straight down over my eyes. I'll post some pics if they would be helpful. Anyway what I'm asking is if you guys could PLEASE give me some suggestions for a way to style my hair until it is long enough to tuck behind my ears or pull into a ponytail - whichever comes first. I figure another 2 months until then. If you don't have a specific style, maybe you could point me in the direction of a web site that may have styles for me? Thanks in advance.

Ask your parents to help you. Part it one day like they like, and another day, another way. Ask them to help, including asking your mom to set your hair and style it in various ways until it gets long enough to pull back. Ignore them if necessary, but do not fight them Tell them this is something you want and ask their help.

There are a few options I'm guessing you have wavy/curly hair and you sound like you're about 5/6 months in. You can always use some gel and always slick it or try and attempt it behind your ears. I'm nine months in and it just barely goes behind mine. So until then, just grin and bear it. And ask your parents to respect your wishes and show them how important your hair is to you.

My parents are not concerned by how I choose to wear my hair, and I do feel sorry for anyone who has to put up with this treatment, the awkward stage is hard enough without the people close to you making it harder!
I used to gel it in a parting and push it backwards, then after about 4 months I didnt gel it and this was the time for hats and such. Then at about 8 months I started brushing it down over my ears.. takes a bit of work getting it to look ok but is usually worth it
Good Luck
