2nd Akward Phase?

What's the story here? I started growing my hair at about 2 inches length. When it hit 5 inches I hit a horrible phase where nothing
would holf my hair into place. After a couple of months of bad hair things went really smooth. I took advice from people at this
site and started using Meling gel and Aussie Moist. Well now I'm
at about 9 inches long and everything is looking horrible. Nothing
will hold my hair. It poofs out by 2 pm and it just never looks right. Is this the 2nd akward phase? and what will make getting through this stage easier? The first akward phase you guys gave excellent advice. Now What? How much longer until the bad hair days end? I determined to grow it so any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

There are probably SEVERAL awkward phases depending on your hair type.
See Post above (on product testing).

I know how the puffy thing goes alrite. The only advice I can give you is what im doing. On days after ive washed my hair it is especially puffy so I brush it, dampen my hands and rub the water over untill happy. This doesnt usually last more than 1-2 hours but it will keep it in better order than with nothing (it can be done every day). I also make use of woolen hats a lot, in high winds and whatnot.
I dont think theres much else you can do untill its ponytail length but I hope some of my advice helped a bit
