This was a year and a half ago when i had long hair... all i remember was i needed a job desperately as my familiy went in dept... anyway i rang and filled in job applications... when i went to interview i wore the right dress code (shirt, shoes etc), i comed my hair neatly which i left opened, but the funny thing was that every interview that i had been to, the interviewer kept looking at my hair i could tell because the way they looked at me, which i ignored... when i got letters from the jobs, i was refused... people in my familiy said its because of your hair get it cut which i refused... but i got so annoyed after wards, because i kept getting refussed, i got it cut, and still didn't get a job.
I have grown my hair back and am looking for a job and would like some advice on what to do with my hair when i go for interviews???

Suggestion< this has worked for me. Buy a short hair wig, tuck your own hair underneath.: This was a year and a half ago when i had long hair... all i remember was i needed a job desperately as my familiy went in dept... anyway i rang and filled in job applications... when i went to interview i wore the right dress code (shirt, shoes etc), i comed my hair neatly which i left opened, but the funny thing was that every interview that i had been to, the interviewer kept looking at my hair i could tell because the way they looked at me, which i ignored... when i got letters from the jobs, i was refused... people in my familiy said its because of your hair get it cut which i refused... but i got so annoyed after wards, because i kept getting refussed, i got it cut, and still didn't get a job.

Slick it back with gel. If it's long enough, put it into a tail as well.

I have mid-back length hair for about five years, and I have had no problems getting and keeping my job. I work for a major defense contractor on the West Coast, and despite the fairly conservative environment where I work, my hair has never been an issue. I do take very good care of it and make sure it looks clean and nice. I usually wear it down, but when we meet with customers I pull it back in a ponytail. Every morning I style my hair and make sure it looks neat before I go to work, and after lunch I ususally stop by the rest room to do a touch up.
If you make sure it always looks nice it shouldn't be a problem.

Could it be your own perception? After all, you said you cut your hair and it was still difficult to get the job. You don't want to work for someone who disqualifies you from a job for having long hair. Long hair is not a defect and it is not a regretful mistake as a tatoo could be. You can go cut it all off right now,you cannot do that with a tatoo.Maybe you are projecting your insecurities.Don't be self-conscious. Just don't work for someone who dislikes your hair. There are plenty of employers. If you don't have integrity people will walk all over you.Yes, that includes anyone who might hire you.I have long hair, and once employers look at my qualifications, they are not too interested in my hair anymore.Long hair is for men who don't need approval.
