milestone

I was just catching up on the board after biking from London (England) to Munich (Germany) and was reading the crash helmets thread...
The "milestone" is that, after a couple of hours cruising at continental motorway speeds (about 90-120 mph), I was dismayed to find that the back of my hair was more tangled than ever before in my life. It took about half an hour to get the knots out. It's never been long enough at the back before for this to be a problem. It's still not long enough to put inside my jacket, so what am I supposed to do?!! I've got to do the trip in reverse next weekend!
Goodness knows what it would have been like without the helmet. Also, I think it might be rather unpleasant for all the insects splattered over my visor to be splattered over my face instead...

Ya, if you are going to have long hair you will need to either avoid "windy" activities or just plan ahead for them.
If your hair does get unavoidably tangled up after such situations then a good way to undo it is to fingerpick your hair free. It may take an hour (depending on the length and amount of tangle) but it's less damaging then trying to brush out bad knots.

Wow, 90-120!? LUCKY, is all I can say... But, when I used to ride my dirtbike (I know, alot different) I just stuffed all my hair into my helmet, or I used bobby-pins (hairpins?) to secure it. My hair would get tangled just by doing 60-65 on the levee, but my solution atleast helped me. Good Luck
