It's driving me CRAZY!!!

I don't know what to do with my hair. I have just about had all I can take. Heres the problem... When I wash my hair gently and carefully, I wind up with this white stuff caked up in several spots on my head. And of course it itches, and drive me nuts! Which eventually leads to me clawing at my head when I can't take the itching anymore. Now, when I wash my head really good I don't have the white stuff and no itching. But I really have to scrub it good. And this causes me to lose ALOT of hair! Atleast 100. When I'm gentle with it I only lose 15-20. So, it's either itch or lose a ton of hair! I thought maybe I wasn't rinsing well enough and it was shampoo or conditioner building up. But I made sure I rinsed really well. But I still get the white stuff. I've ditched the leave in conditioner, so that's not it. And I rarely use any gel or anything. I have tried several diffirent shampoos and conditioners over the past few months. All with the same results. I've even tried dandruff shampoos. But nothing works except scrubbing.I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about just buzzing it off and be rid of all the trouble. If this keeps up much longer it won't matter anyway, because it's all gonna fall out from either washing it or scracthing it. Does anyone have ANY advice? I'm desperate here!

Hey Gibson,
If it were me having these problems, I would make an appointment with your doctor or Dermatologist and have it looked at. They ma be able to identify the problem and give you some options.
I have other problems like "balding", but I am fighting it with nutrition, supplements, Pro-HGH, and vitamins and for the past month have already seen improvements in my thinning area.

You're right I should do that, and I may eventually. But I'm the kind of person that avoids all doctors at all costs. Unless a limb falls off I don't go see one, lol. I've been to a doctor a total of 5 times in my entire life. Anyway, thanks for the advice.

You might have psoriasis of a scalp fungus...
Maybe you need a presription shampoo or something?
Good Luck!

Don't worry about it. 80 - 100 hairs is normal.

not sure exactly what that is but i used to have the same exact thing happen to me when i was in the very middle of the awkward stage, the stuff used to build up and itch like crazy if i didn't shampoo EVERY single day and even then it would still show up, but once it started getting longer it
stoped, how long is your hair right now? could it by any chance be that theres not enough hair yet to soak up all the oil your scalp produces? just a thought
RINSE properly

Awhile ago, I left shampoo+conditioner in my sideburns to make them look a lot thicker, because the shampoo/conditioner combination makes hair thicker....I never rinsed, and left the stuff in my 'burns for about two days... BIG MISTAKE.... for several days later, I was flaking white stuff....
the lesson here is that you should rinse properly when you do end up shampooing, otherwise, the stuff will build up... and cause you major grief.
I think you have ecsima

The same thing happens to me, do you espeically get all the white dead skin right on your hairline?
What I do is use a moisturizing cream on my forehead.. it doesn't fix everything. There's nothing else I can do though, it's genetic :\

Before I started dying my hair I didn't need to use conditioner.
I decided I didn't need to condition the hair closest to my head because it isn't dyed. Big mistake! My head itched like crazy and I got lots of white flaking. Started conditioning all my hair again, problem solved.
I'm sure that isn't your problem, though. I would start looking into scalp/skin conditions and see if you can't find out what it is and how to take care of it. If you can't, make trip #6 to the doctor. LOL

Dear Gibson person --
If I had white crud on ym scalp I would wash it until it was off, off, off.
Then I would not wash my hair for at least a week, but I would use conditioner, perhaps a little vo-5 or mineral oil massaged into the scalp, or whatever lubricant seemed appropriate. I would only rinse my hair, daily if necessary, but not use the detergent.
There are also some basic anti-itch lotions available at the drug store. I would start with these, and when my hair was washed with shampoo, I would massage a little into the scalp.
If you cannot control the itch, then I would see a dermatologist, or ask my primary care doc to give me something for it. Sometimes, an oral medication like Visteril or Atarax is useful for a few days to break the scratch / itch cycle, but these medications, though basic ly harmless but strong antihistamines, will make you sleepy. Also cut down on acid foods during this period like tomatos, peaches and red wine. They are wonderfully nuturitious but can make you itch in excess.
