How is this possible?

I have a cousin who is 9 years old. She has hair that is about mid-back. She has always had short bangs though. Recently she decided to grow them out to the length of the rest of her hair. Anyway, I decided to measure her hair and keep up with it just to see how fast HER hair grows. I've been measuring it for 3 months now. And everytime it has grown just over TWO INCHES!! I didn't know ANYONE'S hair could grow THAT much in a month. Has anyone else ever seen anything like this? It totally amazes me that her hair grows that fast.
possible? hmmmmm...

That can't be possible, it means she grows hair 4 times faster than normal human beings. Unless she is a chia pet, i dont see how it's possible. Make sure the ruler isnt in the centimeter side.

Women often have faster hair growth than men - I don't know of any man who has much faster growth than half an inch a month, yet I know several women whose hair grows twice as fast, ie an inch a month. That makes two inches in three months possible
and a lot of us very envious!

Yes. My daughter is 7 years old and has never had her hair cut EXCEPT a couple of years ago when she was filling in a personal scrapbook which had a space for "a lock of my hair". She chopped off a great chunk of hair but luckily it was at the front so my wife was able to cut it into a fringe (bangs ?).
A couple of months ago she decided to grow it out and the rate of growth has astonished me. MUCH faster than my own hair.
None of this is very scientific I know but it's clear that different people's hair has different properties. For example that photo of Dianne Witt that was posted recently (leaning over a balcony - hair about 15 feet long). Everything known about terminal length and hair replacement rates says that hair that long SHOULD be impossible - but in her case it's not.

Some people have a rare condition in which each hair doesn't fall out when it reaches the end of it's normal life, e.g. Crystal Gayle and those ancient chinaman whose moustaches reached the floor!

How do you know Crystal Gayle has this condition? I have heard that her hair grows about an inch and a half per month. At the normal cycle of 6 years, that would be 1.5 in/mo * 12 mo/yr * 6 yr = 108 inches or 9 feet long at terminal length.
? and don't forget...

Another factor to consider is that a women's head and face...
and especially a CHILD's...is SMALLer and so even if it did grow at the same rate...
it would reach their chin FASTer than most men's would.

I had waist length hair in the back and short bangs when I was 7. I told my mom I didn't want bangs. By the time I was 10 my bangs were as long as the rest.
Now it grows the average. I think your hair grows much faster when you're really little.
