re-post>Gollan about make-overs

There are guys on this board who definately need a make-over (and an equal number who do not in my opinion). However, the overwhelming theme here is never, ever cut your hair and it does not matter how you look or are perceived, but how you "feel".
I agree with this theory to a point.
What isn't cool is the double standard. Some folk say they do not care what others think of them and their long hair, but they certainly have opinions about short hair and people "conforming". It isn't always about conformity, but about comfort, practicality and what looks good on the individual. Some folks simply prefer short hair...and it is entirely possible that someone may have long hair, like having it for years and years, decide to cut it and love their short hair.
Most on this board seems to assume just because they love long hair, that long hair is the best option for everyone.

Ummm I think you have a misconception. I personally have never pushed growing long hair on anyone.

Well, the board does behave more as a long-hair support group, then serving to give an unbiased opinion on which hair length is best for each person. Also, people growing out their hair go through an 'awkward' phase where the hair tends to fall over the face rather than down the back and may be at a point where either longer hair or shorter hair would look 'better' than the length they have. Since the board is set up to promote long hair, we naturally encourage them to keep growing.
My opinion is that only a small minority of men with perfect head shapes look good with short hair; but multitudes cut their hair short to be in the current fashion and end up looking like anonymous military recruits. I think that the 80s was the golden age for mens hair in that there was a good mixture or long and short hair styles around, and most people wore a hair style that flattered them.

Er, that's an assumption in itself...
Define "most" - how many is that?
How do you know this? Do you read minds? You can't draw that conclusion from the little that is written here simply because you don't know what isn't written.
Sorry, but sweeping statements don't help any discussion. Be precise. Expressions like; "most people" or "everybody says" are meaningless.
