Defeat the Afro!

Hey all. I've been lurking here for a while but now I have a pic online of my hair at it's present state (10 months) and I just wondered if anyone else has tried to grow hair like it long? If so, will it grow straighter over time or am I stuck with an ever expanding bush of hair? What do I do to control the monster?!?
Here's the pic!

You remind me of the actor Curtis Armstrong (the "Booger" character in the movie "Revenge of the Nerds").

For the best results you'll have to suffer a little. Kind of like most of us on this board.

You have a few options.....
1) Get it relaxed. However, be warned....go to a stylist who knows what he/she is doing! You're looking at a minimum of around $75.
2) Use a blowdryer or a flatiron. I do this sometimes, but while the immediate effects are good, the long term effects aren't so good.
3) If all else fails, after it grows to be over two feet or so..the laws of physics will take over and it will begin to hang down.
