I can pull my bangs so that the tips go in my mouth barely. How much longer you guys think until i can tie my hair back? I been growing since the Beginning of December with only 1 trim being at February. I need to go back to get my neck hairs cut and my sideburns cut because it doesnt look nice.

I was able to put my hair in my mouth about 8 months ago and now I'm just starting to barely be able to put it in a pony tail. The bangs still need another inch or so. The length that you need depends on your head size and shape and somewhat on your hair type. For instance the long hair site says 9 inches is the minimum for a pony tail but I'm at 9 almost 10 inches right now and it still wont stay tyed back.

I can pull it straight down and just reach it if I stick my tongue out and up, it's soooo cool and I started in dec and had a trim in january, so I'm like exactly like you :)
You can measure it... here's how.

You can actually measure the distance you'll need and the time you have left to reach it. This works, I've done it. Take a piece of dental floss about 12" long. Hold one end at your hairline in the middle of your bangs (fringe). Pull the other end around to the middle of the back of your head. Pinch and hold the point where the floss meets the back of your head. Still holding the floss remove it and lay it along a ruler. The length from the end to where you are pinching is how long your bangs (fringe) have to be to reach a ponytail. To reach the band and stay in you'll need at least another inch (better allow two). So add one (or two) inches to your measurement. Next use the dental floss to measure your bangs. Just hold the end of the floss at your hairline in the middle of your bangs (fringe). Pull your bangs along the floss and pinch it where it coincides with the tip of your bangs. Measure this length with the ruler. Now just subtract the first measurement from the second and you have the number of inches you need. Hair grows on average at 1/2 inch per month so... divide the number of inches you need by two and you have the number of months. I hope it's a small number. BTW, everyone who does this please post your results :).
Make that...

I did the measurement method you described above, only I used a shoestring. Here's what I came up with: 11 inches from my forehead hairline to the middle of the back of my head. Add 2 inches makes 13 inches comfortably. My current bang (fringe) measurement is 7.5 inches. Difference of 5.5 inches. 5.5 x 2 = 11.
11 months from now (approx. Sept. 2004) I should be able to get a decent comfortable ponytail. I should none the less be an accomplished longhair quite sometime before then though. Cool method, my friend. Something to definetly look forward to, huh? Peace!

I still have like 3/4 times as much to go. I measured until the end of my head though. I know that by the 1 year mark since i started growing it I will be able to put it in a ponytail just without the bangs.

Dude! Get your hair cut more often... really! It makes it grow way faster... Well... I'll get more technical so it makes sense.
Over time the ends of your hair become brittle and worn. These are split ends. Just like splitting wood or concrete in your driveway, this gets worse with time. As the ssplits move up your hair you lose legth.
When you get a hair cut you need to say "Just take off the split ends" The hair dresser will just trim off about 1/4 or 1/2 of an inch from the bottom and this will prevent splits from claiming more of your hair legth. I get a hair cut every 1 or 2 months and I use expensive conditioner. Grocery store stuff sucks.
Also, if you want it to look neat you should have them even it all up for ya once your bangs are long enough. Bosses are usually cool with long hair if it's all one length. Especially if you ware 'smart' looking glasses. Then they stereo type you as a brilliant computer tech or hacker... lol
anyway, have fun. We need more peoplee ;-)
