hosting images help

This question is for anyone who knows about computers. (i apologize that it is not about hair)
Is it possible to use geocities pagebuilder to host images? There is a user file directory that photos can be uploaded into and then inserted into pages on a geocities website through html. This is how I make my progress page. However, I was just wondering if I could call upon those pictures for this site or on other sites to which I belong to. The problem is, even if it is possible, I don't know what would go in place of the x's in this example..

I'm not that good with computers, so some may get a good chuckle out of this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "xxxxx" in that link. Generally I link without anything in that space. That's the plus of Geocities, you get a smaller URL.
As for linking, Geocities gets really upset about their bandwidth. They won't let you link offsite. So if I typed in the HTML code and displayed an image I had off Geocities, it would display a Geocities message instead of my image.
So if you want to link to your pictures, you're going to have to leave the URL to them for people to copy paste. Geocities checks whether the URL was put into the browser, so you can't just link them directly. By hook or crook, you can get it to work.
I hope I answered your question.

Personally I'm not too big a fan of Geocities. Isn't it possible to host a site via your provider? Webspace is part of the package when you get an internet account. You'll have much more control over you site too, and (big plus!) no annoying banners and popups. Check it out, it would be a waste of money if you're using Geocities instead.

The only reason I use Geocities is because it is free. (the version I have. You can upgrade to your own domain if you pay something like $8/mo). What exactly do you mean 'Webspace'....?

Well, when you apply an internet connection to be able to surf at home, basically you're ordering a package. This package usually includes:
- an email account (email address)
- a modem
- an internet account (Dial-up, ISDN, xDSL or cable)
- a shell account (to log into your account on the UNIX server of your provider - this is geek stuff!)
- webspace (some space for a personal homepage on the server of your provider)
Check out the paperwork you provider sent you to figure out exactly what you're paying for and how to use it. If some of it isn't clear enough, call the helpdesk of your provider and ask them about it. Some of that stuff is a lot of fun to play arond with, I kid you not! If you use your own webspace ultimately you'll have more control over the contents of you site.
Now, about my consultancy fee ...

1. Put your pictures in an album on: ImageStation
2. Once your picture is in an album (unlimited storage!) all
you have to do is to RIGHT-click ON your picture...
3. From the menu that will open...click on 'PROPERTIES'
4. COPY the entire URL(address)...
5. PASTE that URL right HERE in this Comments text box...
6. Surround it with the image source HTML like this:
< img src=http://images.google.comimages/cat.jpg>
(the URL is in RED. This is just an example. Make sure your URL ends with .jpg or .gif)

They stopped allowing remote linking a few years ago because of bandwidth use. That's when I bought the domain for my betta site. I was suddenly unable to show off the pics I'd spent all day taking (of my fish...takes about a half hour per fish to get a decent pic or two of them).
