conversation at the DMV

I went to the DMV this afternoon to get a new driver's lisence. This was done mostly in responce to a change in address. However, I had a caesar cut in my old lisence photo, and it was time for a photo update ;) The new photo turned out horrible, as do most lisence photos, because I was outside for nearly an hour prior to the shot and it was very humid. Oh well, at least I have long hair in it!
The good news about this is that the guy behind the counter who took the photo and gathered my information was a longhair. He appeared to be a few years older than me...probably around 21 or 22. After he shapped my photo, he asked me if I was getting the new lisence because of the address change or the hair change. I laughed and told him it was a combination. It turns out that we are both growing for terminal length. He was closing in on his fourth year, so he was a good way ahead of me. It was a good exchange and now if I get pulled over, I won't be questioned about my lisence being a fake!
Tips for a good DMV photo...

1. Lean BACK as far as you possibly can. Close ups distort your face
and wash all the color out.
2. Smile. Yes, smile. A smile always makes you look better in ANY picture.
So smile...even if it's just a little one.

LucksKind, I dunno 'bout that one. The only time I smiled for a DOL pic, it turned out quite goofy looking. As long as I keep a straight face, my photos turn out ok. It also might be a good idea, if you can, to put the hair in a tail. That way it's out of the way. When I've been carded or have dealt with the police, (yes, I'm kind of a leadfoot), even when my hair's been loose, they haven't asked me if the license is a fake, or, said that I've changed a lot, since it's pretty obvious that I have long hair, even in the photo.
