Hair types and reactions

Ive noticed that different hair types get different treatment from people. Like a guy who I was with had thin straight long hair, and no one took any notice, but me and some people with wavy or curly hair got much more attention, not positive either. I dont mean that this is the only occasion either. Ive also noticed some people who may even have long hair themselves have prejudice against those with one of these hair types. But straight hair is way more accepted as being ok or 'cool', when other types are not.
Just thought id share this observation

There might be some truth to that. People (yes, men AND women) with longer curly hair tend to attract more attention. I don't know about the prejudice of longhairs with straight hair against against those with curly hair though. I haven't had any negative comments from a lonhghaired dude with straight hair. It wouldn't surprise me one bit though - that's how people are. People will look for any damn excuse to descriminate against another fellow human being.

I'm a girl with long curly hair, and the only positive attention I get about it is from old ladies who wish they could have it. ("No you don't," I think. "Your poor arthritic hands wouldn't be able to comb it.") From people my age, I get "Why don't you straighten it?" (answer: I like it this way.) I can imagine it'd be worse for guys.

What did they say exactly? I can't imagine that someone would give you negative attention for something so silly as having curly hair instead of straight. I personally like long curly hair very much, I think it is so much cooler than my own straight, boring hair. People are so odd. Don't we have better things to do than harass someone who has curly hair? Geez, what are we, in kindergarten?
Don't you pay those people any mind. They're just jealous ^_^

Having fairly wavy hair, I've noticed that about as well. Personally, I find most straight hair fairly boring. I like my hair the way it is, and I hope that its appearance shall only improve with growth. I must admit, though, that the waviness of it is working against me at present: While my hair is relatively long, I cannot (as of yet) get it to stay out of my face. I think this condition has something to do with the fact that my hair cannot stay neatly tucked within the narrow spaces between my head and my ears. I'm willing to bet that my hair would handle such placement much more to my liking if it were straighter (more prone to dangle through that narrow space and less likely to become bunched up with movement, I guess).

YOU try getting hair like this to stay put between behind your ears!

Is it just me, or do you have a slightresemblence to a young Howard Stern, nWo Slapnut? I don't mean this in any type of bad way as he, as well as you, has a great head of hair and a good look.

Haha...I was thinking Steven Wright (sans the bald top). All in fun, nS. :-)
How perceptive

No offense taken: I am capable of discriminating between Howard Stern as a physical being and Howard Stern as a wiseguy radio personality. Because I can seperate one from the other, I take your comment without a hint of insult. I think there in what you've pointed out. I think I'll bring this to the board's attention in a new post and see what they have to say.

Man, that sounds really stupid... I have gotten the "why don't you straighten it" talk as well, but I love my curly hair and I love long curly hair on girls too... It just requires double the effort to grow and take of , but looks twice as nice!
