Starting my two weeks...

I'm starting my two weeks today for my two week rule... I'm getting tired of my hair in this awkward stage. It's so unruly and ugly, it's not funny... I think I looked much better with shorter hair at this point... god damnit... sorry, just ranting.
Rant away just don't cut it...

Yes the awkward stage is a pain but stick with it the results are worthwhile. I had to spiff myself up today for an important meeting so I'm sitting here right now with my hair slicked back into a decent ponytail. It didn't seem possible a few months ago. I know the awkward stage is harder for guys with curly hair but your results will be twice as good and a lot more interesting to others because there are so few long, curly haired men.
a big Pain . .

The Awkward StageŽ IS a big pain in the ass.
And when I was going through the very WORST part of it, I would wake up
in the morning...look at myself in the mirror...and quietly FReaK OuT!
I felt rejected by the gods... WHERE was my ROCK to hide UNDER?
Why...Why...WHY was I doing THIS to myself, anyway???
Life was getting WORSE...the SKY was getting DARKer and a CLOUD followed me around ALL DAY!
Was everyone STARING at ME? . . . YES! Or so I thought at the time.
So I bought EVERY product I thought might help...Some did...
most did not.
Would my hair GROW while I slept? WHEN would it get LONG enough
to weigh itself DOWN???!
L(.)(.)KED in the mirror and WHAT did I SEE? . . . ME!!! and looking like hell.
HOW can I spell out to you the way that I felt? And EVERY day there was ALWAYS some doubt: "Am I doing the RIGHT thing" I can still hear
myself saying... Should I just GIVE UP???
But there was NOBODY who could answer that question for ME. That was
something that I had to decide for myself...
AND, I WOULD have done SOMETHING...except that I could NOT make up my mind! (Thank God)
So the days passed...one by one. And man was it S-L-O-W...but, you know...
NOW I'm GLAD that I made it...
Would I do it AGAIN? . . .O, Lord! Maybe I'd be encouraged by
knowing it would turn out all right in the end...
But the suffering would probably be the same.
I know that NOT EVERYONE goes through these 'horrors'...
but MANY do!
And that's one of the reasons THIS BOARD is here...
In the end, only YOU can know for sure if being a Longhair ...
is something that comes from your Soul...
If not, don't feel bad...it's just not something that is right for you... and THAT's OK!
So STOP, THINK & be SURE before you decide WHAT TO DO . . . and...
Good Luck!
Thanks

Yeah, dude...stick with it. Awkward stage blows, but once you're past it I think you'll receive alot of compliments. Judging by the way your hair is now, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that you'll have hair that looks like Robert Plant. You'll love it...you're gonna have the curls that some women would die for!!!
Take care...and I hope this helps.
Brett
Not Robert Plant

his hair isnt as thick as robert plants or as curly, unless Plant had it teased out and curled that way
Evil milkmans hair will be relativly straight/wavy when it gets longer
At least your hair lays down flat

Think about all the people whose hair turns in to an afro for a year before it lays down, yours is flat and not too thick from what i've seen in your pictures.
Just think, you don't have it as bad as tons of other people.

Just hang in there dude! Your hair is almost to where you can ponytail it, so then it wont be that bad. Im in the akward stage too so I know how it can be frustrating, just stay strong and stay away from scissors!
About the pony tail...

It'll probably me a minimum of 4 more months before I can get a mildly decent tail... My hair CURLS like crazy at the ends... the sides and back especially...

Dear Evil:
I meant what I said after your last progress pic post...you are on the "verge". I meant what I said...if you make it thorough this frustrating, awful time, you'll have what you want, and what you set out to do quite some time ago. Don't be hasty. The rest of us can see where you're going and that you're almost there!

I mentioned on another board, that during your stated hairgrowth period, that the picture history would give you a good idea of what was best for you by having a picture history during that period of time. I really liked the blond look even though you indicated that you did not. There are only 4 months to go toward your stated goal, so why not stick to it? I do not recommend the buzz cut that those on the other board are after you to try. After the military (years ago), never went short again. I just gave up after a year without seeing the barber and enjoyed seeing your progress, but I don't have the growth on top and it would have taken another year to have a decent pony tail and not having the growth on top, helped me make my decision to have it cut. It looks better layred with fullness on sides and back, but that's me. You are still young and have the opportunity now to let it grow that you might not have in the future, so go for it while you can. Best of luck, whatever the decision that you make. The main thing is for you to make the decision and not let others do it for you.
