Shamp/Cond every other day is too much?

I don't think I'll change my view of this, but I've heard of a lot of comments going towards this, that you shouldn't shampoo or condition more than once or twice a week. I personally do it every other day, sometimes once a day (never more than that its already long enough to let it dry).
Since my hair has recently been colored, I've been using shampoo and conditioners specifically made for Colored hair. I've tried Pantene Pro-V for colored hair and its a really nice product in my opinion, its usable every day too. Since it wasn't available the last time I went to the store to buy some more, I took Dove's new shampoo and conditioner set for colored hair, and it worls wonder as well, but expect a hefty price though, for a mere 300 ml. I think its all worth it though, for my 15 inch-long-colored-blue-black hair and its care.
The real question is just how many times do you shampoo or condition per week and if you think once every 2 days or once everyday is too much.

I think you should shampoo as often as you feel you need to. Whether that be once a week or everyday. Personally I can't go more than 2 days. I tried the once a week thing for a while and it didn't work for me at all. It nearly ruined my hair. Because it got so greasy and tangled. So now I shampoo and condtion every 2 days. Your hair/head will tell you when you need to shampoo.

I do it every day . . .Shampoo/condition, that is...
My hair is 3xTHICK as most people's. (It has even dulled scissors...he..he)
Never had a problem.
Have to start fresh everyday or it gets even thicker...if that's possible.

My hair's also very thick, more than my mother's actually, I do wash and condition every other day because sometimes I just don't want to let it dry 2 hours or dont have 2 hours on hand, I never blow-dry them. If I had more time I would do it everyday.

I squeeze and blot my hair with a bath towel. This gets most of the moisture out.
Next I add the L'Oreal MELTing Gel and comb.
My hair may be damp...or very moist...until afternoon
but it looks and feels great.
I hate totally DRY hair, so I will keep doing my hair
the way I've been doing it.

Everyday shamp/condition. Works for me. (fine, straight hair)

I think the message should be "don't automatically shampoo your hair every day, only shampoo when it is required". The shampoo companies would love us to all shampoo our hair every day, but for most people it will dry out the hair and scalp (and might cause us to buy harsh dandruff shampoo, thinking we need it). I go 2-3 days between washings, depending on what I've been doing. I still rinse and condition my hair every day.

I shampoo my hair everyday...never use conditioner...(my hair is really really really straight...literally no wave or curl or anything anywhere)
I personally think it's really nasty if you don't wash your hair everyday.
And dandruff doesn't come from excessive washing, it comes from an excess of a particular fungus in your scalp.

First of all, how long is your hair?
Second, do you do things that make your hair excessivly dirty?
The shampoos that you mentioned are not real high quality products (despite their advertising) but if the length of your hair is not that long yet they may seem like they work better than they really are.
If you need to wash your hair daily and you are intrested in high quality products then you may want to keep trying other products. The real important part of cleaning your hair is the conditioning so if you condition daily (which cleans lightly) and shampoo 2-3 times a week then this helps to keep any harsh effects on hair that shampoo has. Keep in mind that if you do shampoo every day then it is important that you also condition every time too. This is where good quality products come into play in the long run.
