Walking Out

Hello all. My friend just had a really bad experience with a haircut (he vows never to cut it again). He had nipple-length hair that was just indescribably beautiful. I had a hard time braiding it because it would just slide right out...it was literally like silk. The evil woman who did his hair apparently razored (!) and thinned (!!) it, and now the longest parts are just below the shoulder. I haven't seen it because I'm away, but apparently it looks broken and just terrible. Worst of all, he didn't have the gall to refuse to pay her (no tip though). He called me up nearly in tears to tell me this.
My question is this: are you (legally) obligated to pay someone for a haircut you hate? I would say no, but then again it might be considered theft of service, right?
He's also afraid that his hair won't grow back to the way it was. I want to give him good news...what do you think he can expect of his hair? Is there any reason that his hair wouldn't grow back exactly the way it was? Anything else I should tell him?

Are you kidding? She's lucky he didn't drag her into small claims court...
just for the satisfaction of it!
Tell him there is no reason why...in the months ahead...that his hair
should not grow out still healthy.
The 'thinning' she did to him should slowly lose its effect
as he continue to lose hairs at the rate of about 100 per day.
Tell him that if he had silky hair a few days ago...he should have silky hair
in the months ahead...
afterall we are not talking about regrowing it years from now.
And tell him Good Luck from all of us here on the Board!
