What exactly is an undercut? Is it good or bad???

Anyhow, I quite like the third pic's end result but if/when I get an undercut I wouldn't have it so severely shaved. That 'do looks like the old Phil Anselmo tie-back mohawk!

well, if you are growing out your hair and your hair is real thick (like REAL think) and looks real wierd, then they can be useful. otherwise no. They were briefly in style around the early nineties but i think they look real bad. Esp in a ponytail.
Long thick hair is easily preferable to long thin stringy hair in my opinion. I used to have an undercut in the 90s and it made the hair more manageable and i guess helped it go straighter at the time, but i grew it out and now it is the same length as the rest of my hair. I think it looks a lot better even if it is curlier.
