Need Tips For Making Hair Curlier

Alright, I've got the following tips already from people:
1) After a shower, run some mousse through wet/damp hair. Use towel to "srunch" hair.
2) After hair has dried a bit more (but still damp), put a little more mousse into hair and blow dry on cool with a diffuser attached to hairdryer. Blow dry sections while "scrunching" hair with diffuser while drying.
3) After blow drying, use clips to hold scrunched hair in place until nearly dry.
You see, my hair doesn't like to "hold" products very well. My hair is fine in texture and fairly thick in quantity. The reason I'm trying to style my hair curly is because my hair is strange... The sides/back curl at the ends (when I say curly, I mean tight 'baby curls'), but the rest is relatively straight (well, large waves). I've decided to go for this curly style so that all of it looks uniform and better in general.
Anyways, does anyone have any additional tips for me?

Have you considered the opposite, trying to make your hair more uniformly straight? Looking at your pictures, it looks like you basically have straight hair, but the ends just sort of do what they feel like. You could use a blow dryer and brush to smooth out the ends, maybe with some straightening balm. Someone posted about how he was able to use a curling iron to make his hair straight.
For curlier hair, assuming you don't want to get a perm (probably not a good idea), the only other ways I know are to use a curling iron or to set your hair in rollers. Small rollers make hair curly, and very large ones make it smooth and pretty much straight.

Possibly... but when I say my hair is curly in some places, I'm not joking... lol, they're tiny, tight ringlets. Those would be too hard to get completely straight with just an iron or blow drier. I'd definitely need a ceramic straightner or something. Which is what I don't want to have to resort to.
Plus, I like the curly look on me more. I've had my hair straightened before on a few occasions and it doesn't look right on me for some reason.

I've got hair like you describe... on the edge of being wavy and curly. I use Aveda humectant to make it more curly. It's a really light weight product which you put in your hair like a leave-in cconditioner. it costs a lot -- like $20 for a small container-- but it lasts for a long time (I generally use a jar every 3-4 months).
I'm also a believer in spending money for great product. It's sort of like food for me -- there's no need to fill up on empty calories.
