i was wondering this myself... the past few weeks or so, i have been wearing a hat to work...which was pretty good because i didn't have to fool fixing my hair too much. the only thing with the hat is it make my hair go crazy in the back (which it's pretty crazy enough with out a hat, hehe). it's nice to have a hat as an option though, say if i wake up late one morning and don't really have the time to fix my hair.

Oh lord, I love the things people think they can hear. I have always worn hats and used to go to hair stylist for split end checks and they loved how I took care of my hair.

I can't see why it would. Unless you wear one that is too small (and hence, tight) for your head. That may interfere with blood flow to your scalp.
I haven't seen too much negative publicity about hats on this board; so they should be ok. They're pretty much a standard item to the 'awkward phase survival kit':) (don't leave home without it!).
(IMO) I reckon it's best to take it off whenever you feel you can and let your hair (and scalp) 'breath a little'.
