Temporary Color

This may be a stupid question, but I'll risk it anyway ^_^
Do semi-permanent colors (the kind that wash out in 24 shampoos or so) damage the hair? I am inclined to say no because they do wash out, which leads me to believe that they don't penetrate the hair shaft. But as I am a young pup with not too much experience in this department, I might be (and probably am) wrong. The reason I ask is that I want to try to dye back to my original color so I can grow out the permanent dye job I did, but it would defeat the purpose if the color I use causes damage. Any thoughts?

I've used the 24 wash shampoo a number of times and it always makes my hair feel healthier if anything. I find it does wash out in about a month but sometimes leaves subtle highlights which are cool. My favorite has been 'rosewood red' by Natural Instincts.
If your hair has been bleached, the 24 wash shampoo may not take very well. It may start washing out quicker than it otherwise would.

My hair isn't bleached, but it's been damaged somewhat badly. Will this have the same effect?

I'd give it a try then,

The packages promise that is makes your hair healthier because of the intense conditioner that is included. From my experience, I think there is truth to their claim. It may work well to get you closer to your natural color as you grow out your damaged hair.

It would be great if I had any pictures of myself to post! I had a bunch taken recently, hopefully they will be developed soon. If not, I'll nag one of my friends to take a couple Polaroids. Patience, grasshopper ^_^
