Negatives on Melting Gel

So here is a product that gets raved about on these boards, Loreal Melting gel. I haven't heard much bad about it here. But has anyone here used it and not liked it? Also, for those that do like it, what are the drawbacks/flaws/problems with it? Well I am going to take your guys word that it is good stuff and buy some in the next couple days, I'm just curious because a lot of people reccomended Loreal Vive to me and I couldnt stand the stuff.
But then again, this is where I heard of the Aussie products, and those have been working great for me!!!

I would say the only negative thing is that if you put too much in and then try to brush it (when it's dry of course), it tends to flake up a bit. But that's just me.

Is that just when you use a brush? If not, wouldnt it flake up when you just touch it too much?

Nah, I don't really have that problem. I use a boar bristle brush to smooth my hair, but since I put the gel in when it's wet, I don't really have the opportunity to use it.

I never got a single flake from the stuff! Hmmmmm...
Okay, I agree, if you put in TOO much your hair may get stiff but not hard...
...but when working or maybe on a windy day that 'drawback' becomes a plus...

With Melting gel, could you like, roll down your window while youre driving and let the air blow your hair around everywhere... and when the wind is done, your hair will lie back nicely down like it did before?

That's exactly what happened to me the other day. It was being blown in all directions and then when I got inside I just shook it back into place. It's good stuff ^_^

It's straight (but tends to want to wave when it's shorter) and medium thickness (or was till half of it got broken off). A little on the frizzy side.

Broken off? What in the world do you mean?

I had a nasty experience a while back with microbraids that severely damaged my hair. A lot of my hair just snapped off, but luckily it still looks OK. It's a lot thinner now as a result, but but as my hair sheds and regrows, it should be back to normal.

I use L'Oreal Melting Gel it and it is great. There are two minor issues. The first, is there is some flaking left in my hair when I wake up. Combing some water through takes care of it. The second minor issue is that I find it is not "recombing" friendly. With other gels I was able to damp comb my hair it in the afternoon to tidy it up and the gel would hold but when I damp comb L'Oreal Melting Gel it is effectively gone. These are minor issues. I've tried other things to control frizz and so far L'Oreal Melting Gel is one of the best I've found.
I agree...

Melting Gel doesn't seem to react well to any "freshening up" technique...
Perhaps because it is water based?
Anyway, it's the best stuff for controlling frizzies that I've come across--so far.

Hopefully it doesnt just control frizz, what I'm looking for is something to keep it down on my head like it is when its damp.
yes...

Absolutely...depending on just how much you apply to your hair when it's damp.
You can keep that 'damp look' all day!

I generally don't like gels but I bought some because I read on this board that it controlled frizz. It didn't control the frizz, and I didn't like it and haven't used it again.
