SO you say that microbraids were how your hair has gotten much thinner? Maybe those of us dealing with thick hair should get it done, so we can have our hair permanently thinned out a little!
Uh...

Good question. My hair is pretty damn thick, and I love it.

Microbraids are made up of only about a dozen or so strands of hair. Imagine taking an entire head of hair, and microbraiding it, and you wind up with the appearance of a thin head of hair.

I resembled Alica Keys when I had the braids in...it was cool at the time but definitely not worth it in retrospect. If you want to crimp your hair, what you can do is put thicker, but still small, braids in while your hair is wet. About 15-20 should do it, and take them out when they are dry. I had about 100 braids in my hair, so you can imagine how long that took. When they were removed, the crimps looked exactly the same as when I used to put the thicker braids in myself, and it was a lot easier (and cheaper!). It usually takes about 30-45 minutes if you're a fast braider. It's definitely the better way to go.
So, the moral of the story is: microbraids = BAD! ^_^

Beats me. I would kill for thick hair (well, not REALLY). I regret every day that I ever got those stupid microbraids. If anyone tells you that they want them, smack them upside the head!

I agree 100%! Thick hair is a blessing. Thin hair is not a good thing! Most people's hair will thin with age, why welcome this process?

Oh PLEASE don't! The thinning is due to damage (hair breaking off right in the middle of the shaft, for example). Besides, it's not worth the time and money to get them in (4 hours, 200 bucks) or out (6 1/2 hours). Embrace your thick hair, Sid! Don't destroy it like I did.
