Good thing / bad thing?

Alright just done something really stupid, or something very good.
Just ordered the bio ionic straightener, price $400, lol. Everyone I ask about it claims it to be about the best thing ever. I hope it's worth the money, because I bought a professional ceramic one just a couple of weeks ago so now my wallet really isn't happy... ;)
Anyone used it?

hehe, you could almost think so, but unfortunately no ;)

I'll be sure to post them as soon as I get the straightener. From what I've read it's currently the best straightener available today in any country. From what I've read it claims to get better results than any ceramic iron, since it does not dry out the hair. It also claims not to damage the hair, but rather improve it, and can be used daily without damage.
It pretty much it claims to be best on everything... I just hope it gives what it promises.

I have not used it but I have heard that it will not burn your hair, according to claims by those selling similar products. These similar products use radiant infrared heat to straighten hair and the ceramic part that gently grips the hair stays cool to the touch. I am personally reluctant to use one of these because my hair is well over 3 feet long and if it did damage my hair it would take many years to grow out the damage. Unfortunately, you did get burned on the price. These products usually sell for about 100 dollars.

I probably should have added that the straightener works just like a ordinary straightener, it straightens the hair using hot plates. It is the negative ions in the plates, causing the water molecules to penetrate the hair, that prevents the hair from getting heat damage.
There are brushes and other products available that also utilizes negative ions to revitalize the hair. Apparently using these causes the hair to look newly washed and conditioned. So it is the newly discovered technology to create plates that naturally generates these ions that causes the result, and not a new way of heating the hair.

i have a hair dyer that uses ionic technology. works like a dream. if that price tag wasnt so painful, i'd look into buying one of those straighteners, as well.

Well that's not quite how it works... This straightener doesn't use ceramic plates, nor infrared. It is based on the new patented bio ionic technology developed in japan. It is the only straightener of it's kind (or so I've read) I have checked the price for this product on several retailers, and they all go for the same price.
Apparently the plates generate negative ions, which in turn breaks water molecules into "micro fine particles", that is supposed to penetrate the hair and close the shaft, leaving it smooth, soft and not dried out.
Most of what I've said are half-quotes from sites I've read. But I do know it's does not work like you explained, but is based on the new bio ionic technology, and it is the negative ions generated that makes it work. There also exist blow dryers and brushes based on this.

Thank you for clarifying this as this new technology is unfamiliar to me. I am aware of using negative ions for blow drying, however. My hair dryer uses it.

had the process done in june, its fantastic. I have no regrets. Just be sure the person that's doing it is well prepared, the only hair disasters about bioionic come from poorly prepared professionals (most are good), and clients who lie about past chemicals on their hair. You won't regret it at all.

It sounds like you have used a bio ionic chemical straightening, there are lots of bio ionic based products out already and I am referring to a straightening iron, not the chemical straightening process also available at saloons based on bio ions.
If I am not misstaking what you are referring to are chemicals put into your hair, based on the bio ionic system. And you then use the bio ionic straightener I was talking about, which together with the chemicals cause permanent straight results. But the permanent results are based on the chemicals, not the straightener.

400$?!?
just get used to those waves and accept them! at one point you have to realize that your hair isn't going to go exactly where you want, and learn to live with it. my .02$
(Sorry for the lack of any real answer to your question, but you asked for it by mentioning the price :)

Perhaps one day when the hair is longer I will learn to live with it, but at the moment it looks just stupid (I will post pics soon).
The reason I began growing my hair out in the first place was because I wanted long, black, STRAIGHT hair. If I'd knew my hair wasn't straight I probably wouldn't have began growing it out in the first place. It's not like wanting something simply because I don't have it,I began growing it out for the main reason I like the look of long and straight hair. I have never liked curly or wavy hair, even when I had short hair.
Of course, that was over two years ago, and now my feelings about hair has changed dramatically. Now I can't even imagine myself short haired, and can't understand how I once accepted it, or even remember being short haired, and I think long wavy hair looks good. But I still love straight hair, and if by paying $400 I can find a way, without damage, get the hair I find looking best, I say it's worth it.
