knots

This morning I had some terrible knots in my hair, I couldn't detangle it with hands and a wide toothed comb, using a rinse, conditioner. I tried it half an hour.
At the end with a needle I was able to seperate the hairs, I am happy I was not forced to cut it.

First time I tried using a round brush a couple of weeks ago, it got STUCK at the roots. It probably took me 30 minutes or so to get it out, and during this time I was sure I would have to either cut or keep it there forever ;)
So I know how it feels (though for me it got stuck on the more sensitive area, next to the eye, so it probably hurt me more physically ;), but it is NOT fun and good thing you were not forced to cut it.

I like to tie mine up for the night at least the top half. I rarely get any tangles then otherwise its not fun.

My hair is quite long and it was 5 inches above the ends, but terrible tangled. So I could put it on something, fix it with two fingers and get the knots out with the needle using the other hand.
This knots looked like a nest smudged with some stuff and very hard, between one and two millimeters thick.
Next to the eyes is terrible, you can not use a needle. This probably would have been the end of this part of my hair, I want the hair to be separable in single hairs.
Hope everything is okay with your hair now. It really hurts to cut long hair if it is managed with a little bit love.

Begin combing at the ENDS of your hair and gradually work your way UP toward the roots.
Good Luck!

With patience you can pick apart a knot one hair at a time. I get knots all the time mostly caused from the wind while riding my bicycle fast. A 10 meter per second wind is hard on hair and causes many knots. I grasp an individual hair above the knot and carefully slip it out until it is free. Sometimes I can slip out 3 or 4 hairs at a time if the knot is somewhat loose. It may take a few minutes to pick apart a knot involving 30 hair strands using this method but it is well worth it and I almost never lose hair due to knots. Absalom

Thank you for your advise, I have not tried it yet in this way. I wear the hair during the working day in a ponytail and at evening it is terrible tangled.
With a single hair I am very carefully, I fear a force too big can pull it out or it can cause breakage, so I try to detangle the hair using always strands of hairs between the fingers, but fingers are so big compared with hairs.
Detangling is really a problem, but knots fortunately don't appear so often. I do not detangle the hair evey day completely, only the days after having washed it and after having used a rinse or conditioner.
This morning it looked like I had put some glue into the hair, so I couldn't resolve it. The idea with the needle was the only thing that worked.
with kind regards

One other thing I should mention is to try detangling your hair daily rather every few days. Tangles and knots tend to increase with time if they are allowed to remain in your hair and are often caused by loose hair strands that have shed from your head. The average person sheds about 50 hairs per day, which can get wrapped around actively growing hair strands causing tangling in just a few days. If you detangle daily you will also get fewer tangles after shampooing. I have to detangle almost daily because my hair is about a meter in length. Also when dealing with knots try to feel around for the hairs that will slip out with just a few grams of tension. The remaining more stubborn strands will then slip out much more easily. If at all possible, use a mirror so you can see what you are doing. Again, always do this from above the knot to avoid pulling the hair from the scalp. I hope you find this information to be helpful and happy growing. Absalom

Thank you for your advices. I will store it and I will use it if a question will occur. I like it to hear from your hair, it must be very beautiful, because you take so much care of it, and such a fantastic length, I wanted to have such a hair. I think beautiful long hair can convice other people to let it grow.
My hair has reached 70cm from the top to the ends and it is still growing. I like it and i hope it likes me (and will not fall out). I hate if I hear hair breaking, so I am carefully with detangeling.

It seems to me that your hair is doing very well. Your hair length is probably in the top 10 percent of the people that post on this board. 70 centimeters is quite long and it probably reaches at least to your waist unless you are over 2 meters tall. My picture is on the long hair hyperboard pics list. Also, I forgot to ask how close to your head do the knots occur? Are they next to your head or farther down? Good luck and happy growing. Absalom

My hair tangles mostly the 5 inches up from the ends, I guess this is the punishment for less hair care 3 - 4 years ago. Mostly I can resolve tangles and fortunately this unsolvable knots do not appear very often. I am 1,88 m high and the hair reaches "elbowlength", the single hair is shorter than 70 cm, I measured from the top of the head to the ends. Waist length is my next goal.

You are fortunate that the tangles are near the ends. That makes them much easier to reach. Due to your height your hair has to be quite long to reach your waist but you should be able to reach that goal. Try measuring your hair in a pony tail. It is so much easier to keep track of your hair growth as time goes by. Just measure from the base of your head to the ends of your hair. Due to the fact that hair is gathered from all over your head much of that hair will be longer than the pony tail itself. A pony tail has to be 1/3 of your height to reach your waist. The taller you are the longer it has to be. A pony tail 63 cm long should reach your waist. My guess is that your elbow length hair would tie into a pony tail about 50 cm long. Because of my height (only 1.76 m) my pony tail looks very long at 96 cm and would only have to be 59 cm long to reach my waist. It reaches my lower thigh. Happy growing Absalom

Try wearing it in a sleeve or braiding it loosely at night
