Hair

Today I visited the musical Hair. It seems to be a part of the theater establishment now.
Some songs really touched me and I was happy that it was dark around.
I am sorry that the German version died and everything is in English, and this evening I really got envy of English speaking people.
I know the Hair story and it was the first thing about hair that gave me deep emotions about it, don't know why, but this hair thing has determined my whole life.
I guess I was the guy with the longest hair in the auditorium, most of the men had short or very short hair, the house was almost full, and all generations were represented, from teenies to oldies.
I have to think about the impressions I got, usually I do not visit theaters, but I can imagine that I will visit the hair musical again before it will be finished.

Today it was really fantastic, with standing ovation from the auditorium. 35 years ago hair expressed the wishes of men to have long hair like women, and a whole generation was involved in hair enthusiasm.
Unfortunately at the end of the 70th the Disco area started and long hair disappeared from the fashion areas, for both gender.
Today long female hair can be seen more often then in the years before, and long male hair at least is possible in society areas where it was forbidden for many years, although most of the men prefer short hair.

My Conviction
You know kids, I wish every mom and dad would make a speech to their
teenagers and say kids, be free, be whatever you are, do whatever you
want to do, just so long as you don't hurt anybody. And remember kids,
I am your friend.
I would just like to say that it is my conviction
That longer hair and other flamboyant affectations
Of appearance are nothing more
Than the male's emergence from his drab camoflage
Into the gaudy plumage
Which is the birthright of his sex
There is a peculiar notion that elegant plumage
And fine feathers are not proper for the male
When ac------tually
That is the way things are
In most species
