To Trim or Not to Trim

I must confess I'm planning on getting a trim tommorow, I've made the appointment already and I'm nervous as hell.
I'm always scared I'll loose too much length in the wrong places, even though I've been with the same stylist for a year and she knows my goals (it will be my 3rd maintenance trim in 9 months,) I still feel nervous about it!
I guess its easy to say if I'm in doubt I should leave it! But I've had days this passt 3 weeks where I've been driven nuts by the back, (which is becoming quite the mullet) and the bangs which fall longer than the top and consequently makes my hair a little front heavy, especially as the lower layers mostly tuck behind my ears.
Ok so whats the point of my post? (still trying to figure it out really,) I dunno I guess I just want some moral support. I am the only one who gets nervous about trims?

You don't need that many trims. Cancil your appointment. Your hair looks great in the pics. Trimming it will only lengthen the time between now and being a longhair.

Cancel it: Your hair looks good - not a mullet at all.

I'm in complete agreement with England and Redleader here - you absolutely do not need a trim.

You definitely do not have a mullet. Your hair looks great with your bangs longer than the back. I would recommend just letting it all grow for now.
I enjoyed perusing your website. I like the layout. Just a suggestion: Why not spell check your writing before posting it on your site? It's one thing to make spelling errors while posting a message here but for your own site, it is distracting and lessens the quality of what is otherwise a professional looking site.
Eg: It's "lose" not "loose" as in LOSE too much length.

Hey well thanks for the feedback... I haven't spell checked the site and I put it up in a bit of rush... spelling was never my strong point anyway... Just read my posts
Cancel Appointment

Cancel the appointment. Don't make the same mistake I made just recently when I got a trim. I asked to trim an inch off of the back, and the scissor happy barber hacked off more than that!!! Now I have to make up for lost time and regrow what I lost. Don't get a trim, you will be defeating the purpose (and no, your hair does not look like a mullet). BTW: It looks great, keep it growing!!!!!

Hi
No, you are not the only to be nervous about a trim. But, at your stage and having had 3 trims in the past I think if you really want Long Hair you should cancel ALL and ANY "Trims" for at least the next two years. Let it grow and all will automatically catch-up and it will look great! The photos show great hair to work with. If you "trim" the back now, it will merely reach where it is again shortly and you will be back to ground one all over again. Best to just tough it out and eventually length and gravity will do its thing. Actually, as of now it even looks fine to my eyes............about the length ALL guys had when I was in High School back in 1492! LOL Good luck in what ever your decision is...........but please weigh what a trim is going to do to you now. Also, I would be inclined NOT to let anyone talk me into: "Oh, you need your hair thinned-out." That one is a classic Salon remark!

Other people have already said it, but i'll say it again. You are no way near a mullet (yet lol), cancel all your appointments and don't get a trim for the next 1 1/2 - 2 years...
have a good un'
Trim = slower progress...

Why it is so difficult for some to understand that cutting = shorter hair = slower progress?
'Maintenance" cuts should be kept for keeping hair at a certain length...
A 'styling' or 'shaping' cut should be done when the hair lengths
are so unequal that they will neber be right.
As for myself, I just stopped cutting my hair and let it GROW!
Good Luck!
You worry to much

you worry way to much man. That many trims in that much time is to much. Just let it grow dude, it'll all work out in the end.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I didn't get to the majority of your posts until after I had already been for the appointment, and the trim did go ahead...
To be honest I feel better about doing it, atleast at this moment, I haven't lost more than a few millimeters anywhere and I've lost nothing from the length on top. So all in all not much of trim, infact I could post a picture tommorow and you wouldn't notice any different from those on my progress pics taken last Monday. Except maybe that my hair is a little calmer, not quite so big and nowhere near as fluffy.
I know there's a lot of negativity towards trims, but I really dont want to end up in a situation where after 2 years off growth I want to even my hair out and I have to loose 6" in length. I'd take a bit every 3 months, maintain some semblance of style whilst and growing and feel better about my goal when I reach it.
Maybe we should start a thread on the merits of trims... has it bin done?
Anyway thanks for your comments, particularly your reassurances. I'm sorry I didn't get back to them sooner.

Then why did you post here?
I looked at your pictures and you are nowhere NEAR the point of needing a trim. If anything your hair needs NOT to be trimmed for a good year or two.
Why I posted...

Sorry, but I'm not responsible for the speed of the post screening, or how quickly the replies came in, and I guess now I didn't really allow enough time to get in so many replies.
I would have liked to have read all the posts before the event, but I didn't. I can only apologise and say that I appreciated all your comments both good and bad.
But at the end of the day, and in the spirit of a true wannabe long hair, I ignored all the advice of my peers and I did what felt right for me.
