Bio Ionic Straightener - Report

Alright, received the bio ionic retexturising straightening iron a couple of days ago, and just tried it. And as promised, here is the report of the results.
Good thing, my hair has probably never looked this good, not even using my ceramic straightener. There is NO chemicals or styling products in my hair what so ever, only used the straightener and the bio ionic paddle brush. And my hair is super, super, super soft, shiny, straight etc.
Though it is WEIRD, the plate is filled with "waves", it has toothes on the sides, and sliding it down the hair does not feel nice. I don't know what it feels like, but the waves gives friction, feeling like hairs has to be pulled out or broken (but wasn't, I checked carefully).
Compared to my ceramic straightener it was REALLY easy to use, smaller so much easier to use. Didn't cause the hair to get that frightening burning hot feeling that my ceramic one does, but just got straight result, and I could slide it over the same area numberous times without the hair feeling damaged or whatever (as I always feel it does after using the ceramic one).
It didn't really remove all the frizz, as I've read it should be really good at. Might just be me though, first time I used it, so I guess 100% perfect result first time is not to expect...
Straightening using the ceramic iron has been a real hassle every time (probably because I am just very bad at it...) but this was real easy. Might just be the size though.
Bad thing, it cost me a total fortune! I stated the price a couple of weeks ago, but had to pay another $70 in customs fees. However it does seem to keep what it promised, not to damage the hair. Meaning I can keep the hair totally straight as much as I want, which for me defenetely is worth the money.
Another weird thing is that NO hair products should be used prior to straightening. I am not sure if this means I cannot use heat protective gels etc if I want to blowdry my hair, or just right before.
Alright a lot of text now, but excited about the result I just got, so had to share :)

I am not sure where bangladesh is, but I guess in europe?
I ordered it from lordsandladys.com/bio2.html, the european version is slighty more expensive than the US version, and shipping to europe is $45.

Have you tried them both, and can be a good judge to recommend not to use it?
It is expensive, very expensive, but you usually get what you pay for. And I can tell you that it is worth every penny. Not only doesn't it harm the hair, you can use it every day without damage, doesn't hydrate the hair, easier to use etc.
But of course if he don't want straight hair all the time, doesn't have high demands, or just think it is much money. There is nothing that says that other irons doesn't work. I am just saying that I now understand why it is so expensive...
Also I don't think recommending someone not to try something, without actually having used it yourself, is pretty stupid...

Without having tried the bio ionic one, I say you can't. There is a reason some things are more expensive...
If you've tried it, and didn't like it, then there's not much to complain about. But I think talking down on something when you haven't tried it, is just stupid.
For you it might not be worth the money, and think the CHI one works just as fine. But that doesn't mean that everyone has the same demands, and oppinions.
The bio ionic doesn't work the same way as a ceramic one does. It is not just that it infuses negative ions into the hair, but also neutralises the wave pattern of curly hair (that's why it has rigdes), and the plates are built using a new mineral.
Do you really think it is four times as expensive, for no reason at all?
It might not be worth the money for you, but at least try it before talking down on something...

Hi Patrick - I've been looking forward to your report. Sounds great but man is it expensive!!
I was wondering though, my ceramic straightener is good enough but after a day or so - or in the presence of any moisture the effects wear off.
How do you find your straightener in terms of the length of time the effects last and in the presence of moisture?
Anyway - thanks for the report and happy straightening!!
:)

I know, especially if you live in europe and need to ship from the US :( But you usually get what you pay for...

Just received it, so haven't had a chance to try it that fully yet. I did however ask about this when ordering, and they claim it is better at this. And one of the keypoints used to advertise the straightener is "Locks Out Humidity". But how well it works I am not sure yet. Probably takes a couple of weeks to really "get to know it" ;)
Though that really frightening feeling on the hair after using a ceramic straightener, when the hair is burning hot, looks kind of "dead" and lifeless (while it is still hot). Does not occure using this one, it gets fully straight, but doesn't show it has even been in contact with heat. It is weird.
I just hope I in addition will be able to get rid of the frizz, which it promised. I am really, really bad at separating the hair into sections, which basically is needed when using a straightening iron to get the best results. Seems to be easier sliding it straight using this one though, because of the ridges and teethes.
: How do you find your straightener in terms of the length of time

Did my first straightening yesterday, so don't know yet... Seems however to last longer than the ceramic one. Might just be that the burning hot feeling after using the ceramic really scares me, so I mostly had it on rather low settings, and therefor didn't last till next wash.
After over 24 hours, the hair isn't as straight as it was right after, but sure still is straight, and not far from it! I didn't separate the hair into sections either, and it was my first attempt, so I guess you can't expect perfect results straight away...
The bio ionic company claims it can be used every day without having to worry about damage. So you can always "neeten it up" a little in the morning or so, if humidity effected it.
However I do not like the feeling of sliding it down the hair. Since the plates aren't smooth as on a ordinary straightener, it causes some friction. Shouldn't really be an issue, but it just feels bad. But I guess I'll get used to it...
Always seem to have the tendency to write too much, but ohh well... ;)
: Anyway - thanks for the report and happy straightening!!

have you used a blow dryer on cool setting and a large round brush to straighten?
That is what I use, and I'm wondering if the bio ironic straightener does a better job. My hair ends up with a "fluffy" look, which is really frizz, at the dyed portion of my hair.
Guess what I'm asking is if it makes it look naturally straight, since you said it doesn't seem to remove frizz at this point.
Also wondering if you've used it again yet?

Yes I have tried straightening using a round brush and blow dryer, first time the hair got stuck on the brush for 30 minutes ;)
It should be noted that I am really bad at straightening using this method. But the hair does get "straight", especially when using straightening gel. Having a stylist do it using this method do get a pretty good result. But straightening irons (regardless if using a normal ceramic one, or the bio ionic) always get a longer lasting and more straight result (at least that's what I've read...). If you're good, using a blow dryer might however give it a more "natural" straight result. I've tried it numerous times, but it sure is hard! Especially the ends.
It should be noted that if you want to straighten using a blowdryer, the warmer the air, the straighter the hair will get. If you want the result to be as straight as it can get using a blow dryer, you should use the hottest setting, and then only use cold air for finish.

The bio ionic straightener works like a normal straightener (but better) so yes, it gives a better result. But then again, so does a ceramic one...
However a ceramic straightener more or less eliminates the body, while using the bio ionic one you can give it a more natural straight result (it won't look "lifeless").
: Guess what I'm asking is if it makes it look naturally straight,
: since you said it doesn't seem to remove frizz at this point.
One of the "selling points" of the straightener is that it does eliminate frizz. The bio ionic company says it is "specially developed to smooth and straighten frizzy, curly, unruly hair - without heat damage.". I haven't managed to remove the frizz on my hair yet though. But then again, I've only used it twice. And I am used to a ceramic one, where you should slide it pretty fast so you don't burn the hair. But that is not the case with this one, so I hope to get a better result when increasing the heat some and sliding it slower.
: Also wondering if you've used it again yet?
Used it twice, on the same heat setting and pretty much the same way. Will try again after my next hair wash.
