To those with waistlength or longer hair

ever since I got my last haircut back in jan of 2000 I decided not to cut it again, I guess I figured my hair would have a terminal length just below the shoulder, cuz this is actualy my 3rd or 4th time to grow it long, in the past Id get to 2 years then Id get tired of it and cut it, but then Id regret it and let it grow again, thats why I dont wanna make that mistake again, and since its getting close to waist length I was wondering if any of you who have hair that long have ever had doubts and thought maybe its time to just forget about it? recently Ive had moments like this, for the most part i love it, but sometimes I just look around and realize how monstrous its getting, I mean the longer it gets the more atention it draws, and if it doesnt stop growing when it gets to the waist then what? So is it normal to get occasional moments of doubt?

When it was about mid back I used to think that I'd get it waist length and then keep it there...that was until it got waist length and then I saw no reason to keep it there.
Your view of your hair can, and probably will, keep changing as it gets longer and longer. This is why I have mentioned to some guys here that they might think about trying it "longer" first without pre-thought limits so they can see what it's like.
As a slow growing part of your body that gets incorporated into your lifestyle, you get used your hair at whatever length it is...but there is nothing like experience in this instance to help you make a decision about it or to appreciate your patience and perserverence.

I never thought about my hair as it was growing but did once I found hair care sites. Years of no care knowledge had me thinking "My hair must be so messed up that I should shave it off and grow it right." Thankfully I gave this some thought, weighing options against replacement time makes for some really slow decisions. I am glad of that restraint. It was very reassuring to later met people in person from some of my favorite sites and hear that my hair was pretty healthy despite ignorance of the most basic tips. Keeping the hair up in a hat all the time was great for protection from sun and wear.
The two week rule here seems to work well, though I have always thought my own actions should be in more proportion to the time it took to grow. Were I to consider cutting it all off, I would think for a year at least. Doubt and the year begins again. Never needed to begin that countdown yet so I must be doing something right to keep my interest so firmly.
As for yourself, doubt is healthy. Long hair does not have to be a long term commitment once grown. Just listen to your needs and weigh your choices carefully knowing you have regretted a change before.

I have had occasional feelings of doubt with my hair too. It is currently about 15 inches past my waist and I have had thoughts of trimming it back to waist length. I usually try to think of other things than my hair when these thoughts arise and just let it grow as long as it can possibly get. Very long hair suits you well and my suggestion is to just let it grow. Absalom
It took too long to grow

to ever cut it.
For me, its more a practical consideration of when sitting on one's hair starts to become problematic, then its time for a trim.

My hair also got a little too long at waist length and I trimmed it about a year ago to up below my shoulders. I took some time to consider what length I would cut it and, although at times I have missed the length, I have mostly been happy with the cut as I grow it back. I did not like the feeling of sitting on it all the time. Whatever you decide, think about it for a while and good luck.
