melting gel and shampoo

My hair has been growing for 2 1/2 months now and I'm going through the awkward stage in hair growth, so I have to use gel to keep my hair neat. I use L'Oreal Melting Gel every morning before I go to school. I have to wash my hair out with shampoo everyday to take the gel out. I was just wondering if washing my hair with shampoo everyday is harsh on my hair. And is it ok to leave the gel in my hair overnight and not wash it out the next day? Will it damage my hair? Is there anything else I can use to wash the gel out? Oh yeah, I use Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner and every time after I use it, a lot of moisture is taken out of my hair and it becomes super dry, even after conditioning. What should I do?

I've kept Melting Gel in my hair for days with no adverse effects. I wash my hair every day now because I work out, and I don't seem to be having any problems with that, either.
As for the shampoo and conditioner issue, not everyone has good effects with every product. It's annoying, but you basically need to find which products work best with YOUR hair. Some people might have the best results with store brand shampoo, and some need expensive stuff to do the trick. I would suggest buying those little trial size bottles of stuff so you don't have to waste money on full bottles only to find that they don't work.
