A few Questions

Hello Everyone,
I've got a few question for all the seasoned hairgrowers here. :) First of a bit of background info about my hair. I've always in the past kept my hair short (im only 18) usualy i would keep my hair at around an inch to inch and a half on top, shorter on the sides. As of February of 2003 I decided that i would grow my hair long, I thought about it for a few months before February and have always wanted long hair but just wasnt sure how to go about growing it.
As it stands now my hair is I would say (rough estimate...Dont have any measuring device on hand...)around 7-7 1/2 inches long, i can pull the bangs down to almost bottom of my chin. My hair is probably most comparatively like treyn's hair, mostly straight i guess you would say with some waves. My first question is, does hair tend to grow in all around the head at about the same rate, or does growth seem to almost alternate between bangs, hair on back of head, and hair on side of head, etc? (kind of confusing to word properly, but hopefully you get what I mean :P )
Second question is, does hair tend to go through almost, growth spurts? what I is does it seem as if it is not growing at all one month but then the next month you notice a substantial growth? both of these question are modeled after what seems to be my general experiance as of yet.
And last question, What length (roughly, obviously it varies from person to person) can you start to get a decent ponytail together? I can get my hair to stay somewhat when it is wet, but never for more than 10 mins or so, heh. But im not all that concerned with ponytail anyway, but it would be nice in certain situations to keep hair out of my face.
Hopefully my question can be at least somewhat understood, im in somewhat of a rush typing right now but, oh well :P thank you to anyone who can respond.

Hiya BlackMetal,
You've worded yourself just fine :)
In my experience,
"does hair tend to grow in all around the head at about the same rate, or does growth seem to almost alternate between bangs, hair on back of head, and hair on side of head, etc?"
Mine seemed to grow at the same rate. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but it seemed to be the case. But then, other people may have had different experiences and I'm sure they will chime in.
"does hair tend to go through almost, growth spurts? what I is does it seem as if it is not growing at all one month but then the next month you notice a substantial growth?"
I wouldn't call it spurts. Maybe, a fluctuation in it's normal growing rate. Things such as: diet, vitamine deficiencies and hormones, just to name a few, can cause the your growth rate to decrease from it's average. Then if it were to fluctuate back to normal, this would seem like a spurt I suppose. Also considering the fact, that normal growth rates are around 1/2 inch a month, which is not very noticeable on long hair, (it wasn't for me anyway) an additional 1/2 inch added to that the next month could be very noticeable and also seem like a spurt. It's all perception really.
"what length can you start to get a decent ponytail together?"
For me, it was at around 8 or 9 inches I "think", though I may have measured wrong. Even then the hair just behind my ears had trouble staying put.
Hopefully others will enlighten you better than I.
Good luck on your journey of growth!
Peace and be well!

Absolutely not.. you'd be very lucky if it did, but unless you have a vitamin deficency you should expect relatively even growth. Still it can be noticably different.

Sure, can do, but more often that not is perceptions. You can notice hair growth a lot more at certain stages, I seem to think that my hair grew from the bridge of my nose to tip of my nose pretty quick but it seems to be taking an age to reach the tip of my nose to my mouth. Its not, the distance is much the same and its right on course but the tip of the nose is a much more definite start point than the bridge so your perceptions can alter.

I'd say 9-10 inches...but like you say it depends on the head.
