New Message Board?

It seems there are a lot of people here who are all about the akward stage... And I think that distracts from having true long hair discussions. I want to talk about my knee length hair more often than hear these kids whine about being in the akward stage!
Maybe we could set up a forum for them to go to, and discuss? So often this isnt a Mens Long Hair Hyperboard, its a Halfway There Hyper-bored.

I agree wholeheartedly! Let's herd them off into their own little sub-forum, and only let them into the "big boys" forum when they've submitted physical evidence proving length of their hair.
Alternatively, you can read the FAQ, realise that the awkward stage is one of the main phases in growing one's hair long, and concede that it is indeed discussion valid to this board.

I agree about the new forum. I feel bad coming on to a long hair site and talking so much, when my hair isnt even that long.
As for the FAQ thing and how this is a stage, yes, this is true, but I just feel all the akward phase posts may be distracting from all the real Longhairs here.

Well, that can be true to some extent but everyone has to start somewhere just like those with really long hair did. We wouldn't want to seem like we are being fascists though by trying to dictate who can and can't be here. I don't do that anyway (unless they are promoting the idea that we should cut our hair off).
What would you like to say about your knee-length hair?

I would just like to say that I love it and it identifies who I am so well, I feel with hair any shorter I would just not be myself. Unfortunately, at a bar once, a man tried to cut it off, so I elbowed him in the face and went back to my beer.

Is the "akward" stage any worse than the awkward stage?
First grade spelling here folks.

I do not believe we need another board.
I feel the awkward-stagers actually feel encouraged when they inter-mingle with longhairs.

The way Double Bubble talks is a little facist for my tastes, he talks about people in the arkward stage as if they somehow don't qualify... I thought part of the ethos behind being a longhair is accepting people for who they are!It seems there are a lot of people here who are all about the akward stage... This board serves long hairs of all types. When are you a long
hair? When people tell you to get a haircut. That is when you
know you've arrived as a long hair.

The final message posted had no quote marks making it

Really? People told me that when mine was only 7 inches long

I don't think we shold exclude anybody who has a genuine interest in long hair. Those just starting get insiration from those who have reached their goal or their terminal length, whichever comes first.
You don't have to read all the posts if you don't want to.

Well there are a lot of people who post here and they intend to keep their hair at the length of the aWkward phase, what about a board for them? Surely it can not be too big of a deal to make

I Disagree. There are very few people here who have a target any shorter than the shoulders...
I think you should ask around a bit before making such a conclusion.

Why have another board? I have been wanting to have long hair since I was in high school 13 yrs ago, but for one reason or another (mainly the military) I have not been able to fulfill this wish. I knew a certain guy that had really nice straight shoulder length hair in school and wanted it like he had it. Unfortunately, my hair turns into number 5 shape when it gets about two inches long as I remeber. I once had it at its longest down to my eyebrows and it looked terrible now that I think about it but I would not mind some suggestions on how to make it look good. I have recently started noticing all the somewhat long haired men that come to visit the store I work in (thanks to a comment and a chuckle..no, wait..a gut-buster.. from my mom) and it has once again sparked my interest in having long hair. Now, the question is how can I start growing my hair and no one at work complaining about it. If they do which they will sooner or later, how can I hide it without a hat? Any hairstyle tips on how to comb it up or something instead of flaming each other on who should be allowed to post here. Its not like anyone is demeaning anyone's efforts or critizing another's accomplishments or goals/dreams. Thats what its all about. Goals and accomplishments. If you have something positive to say, it may inspire someone to follow you. Someone out there may say at your knee length hair -hey, I like that. I want such hair. My inspiration right now it that guy that played Elrond in the lord of the rings who also played agent smith of the matrix..Hugo..whats his face? I say lets focus on what this board is about--LONG HAIR not who has the longest. Its not a contest. No one is getting any medals that I know of.

I personally feel that this board should be open to both those who have long hair and those who want to grow their hair long. Without the support from this board many of the men who really want to grow their hair long may not realize their hair length goal. There are a number of pitfalls to avoid when first starting out and it gives me joy to be able help someome through the awkward stage so they can realize that goal. Having knee length hair means that you are hair wise and could be providing a wealth of support to those who are just starting to grow their hair long. I would encourage you to share your hair growing experience and provide support to those who are also trying to grow their hair long. By the way my hair ties into a 38 inch pony tail which is about 4 inches shy of my knees and I am 50 years old. Also, please show a photo of your knee length hair. Absalom

Suprisingly after scrolling down for what seemed like an eternity, I have not seen one other post by you. Speek your mind about your long(un-seen)hair. Other wise allow the board to carry on as it has been without your input.

There are an abundance of guys here growing out their hair, and the "Awkward Stage" IS a long process.........hence many questions as the journeys to being a "Longhair" are asked. How about setting up a forum for YOU to have a special site for your "Knee-Length Hair?" Oh yes.........YOU do the site yourself and have your own board? Good Luck

As someone who is just leaving the awkward stage, I want to say that this board has been very motivational. I do not post often, but I stop here almost daily for a quick dose of inspiration. Reading the insights of those who have journeyed before me quite often gave me the resolve to stick with it. Without the members on this board, I fully believe that this attempt would have ended in a similar fashion as my previous attempts - a haircut 8 months ago.
Good luck and keep it growing!
