Partners (poll)

Following on from some of the answers to the very interesting 'age limit' thread below, I wondered how supportive our partners are about out hair, what sort of hair they have themselves, and whether we are supportive of them.
For me, I think I am the prime mover behind the fact that both I and my wife have long hair, but she's OK about mine and I love hers.

My wife has mid-back length hair - and likes mine long, or short, or however I choose to wear it...(although she prefers long)

My wife loves my hair. It has greatly dissapointed her in the past (although she would try her best not to show it) when I would come in with a buzzed head. I have tried to grow long hair ever since I met her with no success untill now (15 years). She was greatly into the hair bands of the eighties when I met her, so the long haired guy thing was her thing. She is very supportive of this venture. Peace!
Just curious, Treyn

Treyn,
I'm just curious (and thought others might be too), what makes "this" long hair growing journey different than so many you've been on in the last 15 years? How is your resolve different now, and how do you know you'll make your goal and not cut it? It can't be your wife's desire or support as you say she's liked long hair for years. I would be interested in knowing this. *Peace*

I don't think my wife really likes my hair all that much. Ironically, her hair is longer than mine, although she has it short at the front and around the ears. She would never suggest that I cut it, because she knows that I wouldn't!
OTOH, she has never seen me with short hair, except in pictures taken when I was a child. Even then, my hair was never cut short on top, so I can't imagine what it would be like to have a buzz cut! (The thought of it makes me shudder!)

My partner very much supports me in having long hair, though he does not have it himself, and it is of no particular attraction for him. He likes to wear big black boots and I don't, and I have no particular interest in that. But I support him too. He has a very big web site for that and it has the web board similar to this one for "bootmen" as they call themselves. I even help him a lot with his web site, but I don't wear the boots.
A man's gotta be himself to be happy, and above all, we want to spend our lives with someone who is happy. Through the parallel situations with long hair and boots, we each very much understand where the other one is coming from - we both understand that another man's physical appearance is "holy ground".
Our friends tend to be longhairs and bootmen, and our parties present an interesting mix. Most of the bootmen have very short hair. My partner has longish hair for that crowd, and that I appreciate. You can see both of us on our main page.

: My wife dislikes my hair but has supported me through everything over the last 23 years. I'm 41 and she's 40. She's had to put up with active alcholism, addiction, eating disorders, manic depression, body piercings and loads of tattoos as well so it's quite amazing she's still here really !
Her own look is quite conservative - shoulder length hair and smart clothes. She works in a school and I think the other staff are quite surprised that she's married to someone who looks as I do !

My wife likes my hair but is jealous that its longer than hers. Her terminal length is just at the shoulder blades while mine is about at my waist. Our sons are/were longhairs too. The oldest was until he decided he wanted a "Harry Potter style" cut, which goes well with his glasses. our younger son's is still long. One a note, our daughter is only two so her hair is still growing, but her bangs won't be cut like her brothers were. My wife is often upset the the men in the family seem to have better [longer] hair than her. ;-)
a little competition

Eric, if your wife is interested in trying to grow longer you might want to send her over to the messageboard of The Long Hair Site devoted to women's hair. With the help of the people there she might be able to overcome her surprisingly short current terminal length. Bet she'd be pleased to give you some competition for the "best" hair in your household.

I have had one attempt in the past to grow my hair out, got to 7 months, and caved in. This time, I have the full support of my girlfriend (she loves playing with the curls), and have kept at it for over a year now, only getting more determined!
She herself has nearly waist-length hair, and wants us to match (aww, how sweet)

I've never been with a guy with long hair, and the ones I've been with were either indifferent to my long hair or were more-or-less against it. But its never really been a problem in any relationships.

My wife is very supportive of my long hair and has been all along. I think mostly she supports me doing what I want. Her own hair is currently shoulder length and has been various lengths. Our support is mutual.

My girlfriend is neutral on the matter. If she dosen't like it, she dosen't say anything to me about it.
My girlfriend's parents, however, are another story.
To add to things, my girlfriend's mother, who is very traditional and overbearing, requires her daughter to keep her hair no longer than to her shoulderblades and no shorter than her shoulders. Since my girlfriend is almost 18, I see this as quite rash. It is kind of interesting, though, watching my length reel her length in.

My partner wasn't over keen on me growing my hair, but now it's got 2 years plus of growth she claims to like it. She has long hair herself, although she has had it short in the past.

Unfortunately, as I have posted here before, my wife hasn't come around yet with support for me growing my hair long. We just recently talked about it and agreed it is a control thing. I just passed the 12 month mark. Am very excited to see how it looks as it continues to grow. I want to thank everyone on the board for their support!

My boyfriend has golden blonde waist length hair, and he prefers me with long hair. I've wondered what his would look like short, but would never want him to cut it! Even though I have to deal with women falling all over him everywhere we go!
