Ok dont know what to do.. Its wild its thick it looks like I woke up in Anime land. And all its going to do is get longer wilder and thicker. It wont cut well so I decided rather than destroy peoples scissors I would just grow it. The question is how do I make it softer??? Its like having a course porcupine on my head. I use conditioners and have tried hot oil treatments. I heared someplace that shaving your hair would make it growback softer I tried to shave my head so after going through a whole pack of disposable shavers I was bald for a monthy and all it did was grow back more course and thick and I kept getting compliments on how cool my spiked hair looked.. Now it's shoulder langth and uncontrollable. Any advice out there?????

Got any pics? Should be able to suggest something if I can get an idea of what it's like.

Try using a blowdryer with a comb-through attachment on it. I used this when I experimented with straightening my ringlets and it producted a very soft feeling result.

Blowdrying tends to give hair more volume, which may not help here. I would recommend using a smoothing anti frizz cream such as redken outshine or even a hair serum on damp hair (serum on soaking wet hair) then let it dry naturally. Oh an combing it will probably help too to flatten it. And also a deep conditioner may be better to use instead of a instant "detanger" as it can give the hair more "weight". A protien treatment in between shampooing and conditioning may also be beneficial.

I completely relate, but I hope you get some good advice, because I gave up. I have hair that is so stiff and I also cannot make it any softer or lay down. Even if I come out of a pool, it is sticking completely up. People ask what I put in my hair to make it stand up, but it won't lay down. Someone on this board told me to try putting on a hat when it was wet to make it lay down. I tried that and it did lay down, but it still looked stiff. I grew my hair long enough to put it in a pony tail that looked completely stiff. I wanted to have that nice long, soft hair that would move in the breeze, etc, etc... Instead it just looked stiff. Good luck to you.
