I GOT A JOB!!!

Hi everyone
I haven't been by here since last May but I thought I'd just come back to share something with you that I thought may be encouraging for all you other long hair lovers out there.
In October I went for an interview for my first job after graduating with a Master's Degree. It was the first interview I went for and I got the job. Best of all, it was my dream job and I DIDN'T HAVE TO HAVE MY HAIR CUT!! My job search only lasted three months.
Anyone with doubts out there - don't even think about having a haircut before a job interview.
Happy hair growing!!

Congrats! I think not all employers have bad attitude to long hair. I'll be changing jobs this year too so I wonder how I'll go.

A few years ago a friend of mine graduated, he's an engineer, now 30. From about the age of 14 he had been a longhair, and on several occasions told he he'd never ever get a haircut. Well, I couldn't believe it, but he gave in and got a haircut, a short business-like haircut. He said he couldn't get a job with long hair, and I think he's sad he cut it. His current haircut looks good on him and he looks totally different, but I can tell it's not what he wants.
Well, he cut his hair, and now I'm growing mine!

The title is 'Technical Support Officer' (I work in the town planning office of my local Council) and my job is mainly to present data and information through the use of creative graphics and typographic skills. There is also some database work, web development and programming.

I took a big risk by practicing that same advice, when I applied for my current job. That was 8 years ago, coming up next month. I'm glad it paid off.

Congrats Mark !!
I NEVER cut my hair for an interview. I work in the IT field - before an interview I put on a nice suit, pull my hair in a ponytail and I go.
IF I don't get hired who knows why - hair, the way I'm dressed, my voice, etc.... but I NEVER feel hair is the real issue. Plus, if somebody does not hire due to an outer appearance - hair, facial hair - why would anybody want to work for somebody like that ?
Cheers !!
Bob
I got a job also!

I was just hired a couple of weeks ago for a job. And my hair length was never questioned. But prior to this job I applied and was hired for a job and was asked if I had a problem with cutting my hair short.
They told me the customers were mainly conservetive and they would look upon me in a better way with short hair. This made sense to me and the job was a career oportunity for me! So i cut my Hair! The job lasted nine days because the promises made to me by the employer were not kept. It took me 4 years to grow my hair and I was very proud of My hair. A lot of girls would always take a double take when I would walk into a Bar on a saturday night with my long hair let down for a nights partying! Its not that I am full of myself or anything like that, but I liked the attention and I felt good about myself. I am growing my hair again and will not cut it for anyone again. I just turned 41 years young and I have no grey hairs nor am I going bald.
But when my hair does turn grey and if I start to lose My hair its Ok with me. People always tell me "Get out of here" when i tell them my age. I keep my hair pulled back into a pony tail when i am working and when i sleep. My hair is slowly getting back to the length it was.For those men who wish to have long hair "do It". If you can get a better Job with short hair then make a choice, it always grows back.
Long hair is cool and and most girls like it! In closing.. Keep a positive attitude in what ever you decide to do. Your Friend, Jeremy..
