My Photos
Posted by ToddB on February 13, 2004 at 23:53:23: Previous Next
I have finally set up a simple website, in which I have included photos of my hair.
I have never gone more than about 2 months without a haircut. Never, that is, until May, 2003. Since then, I have only trimmed the back a bit.
I have waited awhile to post the photos for the simple reason that I do not wish to be missleading. My goal is to make it a year. Don't missunderstand, I think long hair on a guy is cool and this is evidenced by my comments for the past year or so. It's just that it's not for me at this point in my life.
So without further adue.. comments welcomed.

i think you look much better with that length of hair than you did when you first started growing out. i think it gives you more height and personality. :)

Yes. Longer hair does suit your face more, IMHO.
Looks good for your eventual goal of longish hair.

THANKS for your opinions. They are encouraging. It's funny how our perspective affects us. I've had hair no longer that a couple inches max and not it's 6 inches. Seems so long...... but compared to a lot of you guys, it's so short. funny.

looking good! nt

Todd,
I think the longer hair suits you well. The shorter hair did not compliment your looks as well. Although you may like it a little short, i'd keep it a little longer if I were you. Just my humble opinion of course.

Great. You've got what was called a "Beatles" hairstyle back in the 60's and all the best with your progress towards a "Status Quo" or "Rick Wakeman" hairstyle.
Are you a doctor?

I've been a physician for almost 12 years. I went to Hiram College for undergrad and Cincinnati for medical school.

Too bad it's "not for you." (To me it looks outstanding.) But, each to his own and your "experiment" has given you your opinions about longer hair for yourself.
I grew-up during the era that what you have now was considered a "normal length" for most all of the younger men. Nobody even gave it a thought. But..........that past "era" seems to be suddenly appearing again as more and more younger guys are letting their hair grow.

I was in high school during the "mullet years". I do like longer hair, but at this point I leave the house at 5 AM and return in the evenings. I like the "grab-&-go" aspect to short hair. Is that the lazy way out? Yep, sure is, but since I work 80 hours per week, I think it's justified. When I reach the year mark, maybe I'll change my mind.... who knows? Perhaps long hair will grow on me :)

As a general rule, unless I'm doing something fancy with it, I spend much LESS time styling my hair now than I did when it was short. There's nothing easier or quicker than just pulling it all back in a ponytail and running out the door!

Do you work at a hospital Todd?
I'm trying to grow out my hair too, probably up to my Jaws/Chin and an inch or 3 longer in the back of my head.
I'm wondering what the "general" hospital policy is on guys having long hair. I'm just curious if its not allowed or not. Coz i know the females have their hair tied back, or they just have short hair. I'm on the verge of growing my hair out, but I'm not sure if its okay or not for guys. I'm mainly going to be dealing with patients on the bedside, thats my thing in the hospital.

It's no different than for women with long hair. In the operating rooms we ALL have to wear caps, regardless of hair length. As for the rest of the hospital, it doesn't matter. I work in the largest hospital in Ohio and there are many guys with hair to their mid-backs.

I've been in hospital loads through my life Ohyeah and I've seen many male doctors with long hair. Not so many male nurses though for some reason. The last time I was there all the men had longer hair than any of the women whether doctor or nurse.
The main consensus seems to be to wear it back in a ponytail regardless of sex of course. I always feel great when a long haired doctor (male of female) is looking after me because I never seem to be 'judged' in the way that I seem to be by the short haired staff. They always seem more caring. *shrug*
You can check your own hospitals staff policies as is your legal right at any time.
