parents getting angry at their kids

I got short hair, 1.5 or 1.7 inches all around so far, I started off with a shaved head on dec 13, 2003, and I havent gotten a haircut since then.
I'm gonna grow it, no matter what my parents say. They can just suck my B@!!$ for all I care. J/K. My parents are totally wack yo, they are very traditional. Guys should have short hair they say. But I told them I want to experiment, and I want to grow my hair up to 1 inches past chin lenghth.
I grew out my hair in highschool for 4 months straight, it got as far up to past my eyelashes. then they forced me to get a haircut.
Can anyone give me a tip on what to say to my parents if they force me to get a haircut again. I'm in college now, but i still live with my daddy and mommy. nothing beats Mom's homecook meal, booyah!

Their opinion should not matter to you. Do as you wish.
They cannot 'force' you. If they literally drag you to the barber's then they need shooting - no offence intended.
If they kick you out of their house or something, then that's their wretched morality and crappy monotheistic ways. Do as you wish, sir! Defeat all who oppose with strength. Strength of mind, strength of spirit and strength of sword-arm!
I suppose if you wanted to argue your points to them, you could talk about how pretentious and superfluous it is to actually cut and style your hair, when it *naturally* grows long. I use that one a lot.

I had many friends growing up who grew their hair long,
there were parents who would 1. drag their kids to the barber shop
to get the hair cut, 2. would cut it themsleves, or 3. would
throw the kid out if they didn't cut their hair.
This was during the 60s when friends would see me growing
my hair to waist lenght and they wanted to do the same.
I had lots of fights with my parents, luckily they
never went as far as some other parents did.

One word: Communication.
Direct, open, honest. Ask questions, get answers. Get asked any questions, give them answers.
I was fortunate in that my dad supported my desire to experiment. My mom, on the other hand (god rest her soul), was raised to believe that men with long hair - even an inch or two below the collar - were probably gay, and she was always self-concious about other peoples' perception of her as a parent unable to control her child's sense of style. Together, my dad I and did all we could to get her to understand. In the end, she only tolerated it.
Just talk to them. Otherwise, plan on moving out as soon as you can. If you're in college, you're old enough to start making living life on your own anyway. As long as you're living under their roof, they make the rules.

I was gonna make a long post but basically Mike summed up what I was going to say. Unless they physically drag you to the chair what are they going to do my parents threatened it for a while. So id just basically say alright see ya there. The only thing I could see happening would be getting thrown out and if that is something that warrents being kicked out of your own him I find that disturbing.

it looks like my hair is straight. But when it gets longer, I think its gonna get wavier, I wish I have straight hair though. The main reason why I wanted to shave my head off is to get rid of the damaged hair i had, especially since i use to blow dry it a lot, put gel on it, put hair spray.
so i figure, when i was in 3rd grade and younger my hair was straight, then it got wavy, i assume from the gel, or genetics.
I'm southeast asian also. I think the japanese/chinese have the straight hair.

You know it's creepy, but you look alot like my step bro. I'm actually 1/2 cambodian, but have most of the facial/hair traits. Anyways, my brother has grown his hair out long before and it looked great on him!
BTW: I'm currently @ 4 inches.

Hey. I think I may have similar hair as you. I had straight/long hair as a kid, but when I hit my teens, my hair became wavey. I'm also asian (thai) and I have been growing my hair since last October. It's around 4 inches long now and my hair is wavey. I've been in the awkward stage, but it's been getting better.
I'm a little bit fortunate because I'm attending school away from home, and I haven't seen my parents in months. They have no idea that I'm growing my hair out. :)

Well actually, wavy long hair appears to be the favorite today, according to the Salon industry.

Dont worry man, as everyone else said, talk to them and make them realize that you wont turn 'gay' or hippie (incase they think that?) and that nowadays, it is seen as fashionable to have long hair. Remind them they are classic stereotypes and that the world is changing. Tell them by growing your hair, you hope to attract more girls to go out with you, and that is what every teen male wants. I am very lucky, I told my mother I decided to grow my hair and the next day she accepted it, almost straight away, although my sister thinks that unless you are extremely good looking with long hair, it wont work for a man, which I think is total bull$*it. My dads fine with it too, i'm kinda lucky really, and I do listen to my sisters opinions and try diff styles not to make it boring.
Don't get it cut whatever you do.
Keep it growing!

Been there done that. I started growing my hair long in the 60s,
didn't stop until it was waist length. It's still waist length
today. Along the journey I had many fights with teachers parents
employers etc.
When it came to my parents the solution was to move out and
get my own house. That way when they would come to visit me
I would say this is my house, I'll wear my hair the way i want to.
If you dont't like it you can leave. That finally ended the
decades long arguement.

If you are indeed in College, you must be 18 or over. How to wear your hair should certainly be your choice totally. Perhaps you are being held by them almost like a hostage because they are shelling-out the $$$$$$ for your education? A tought situation if this be it. You are hardly a "kid" anymore. "Adult" is the term according to the law. I do not envy the bind you are in or have placed yourself in. Only you alone can change matters. I am indeed saddened that your parents (according to what you have told us) are such controlling individuals.

Not necessarily. I know people who went to college who were
17 or 16. I know many who were 17 when they graduated high
school.

Good luck that you reach your goal. You start off with very short hair...hmmm I noticed that asian people have very straight hair usually so it might grow out very straight and I tink it will look very good and you won't have much problems. Sometimes kids have to win over parents wishes, especially when its something as harmless as the wish having long hair....
